Biography 287: Some memories at Barua Sir's home - A

We, the three girls, used to study together at Barua Sir's house. Barua Sir was our math coach in grade 10. The three of us came from three different schools. I was from Matijhil Govt Girls High School, Shayma was from Adorsho Shishu Shikkhaloy, and Champa was from Kamalapur High School. Our homes were in two different neighbourhoods. I and Champa used to live on the same road.

We girls became very friendly with each other. Among us, Shyama was very talkative, and I guess more intelligent. She was sir's favourite. She used to talk with me mostly. I think I am a very good companion. Champa used to stay behind a little. She also can talk a lot, but she said she couldn't find any room to talk when we two were talking. Shyama said, "no one will give you a chance, you have to raise your voice." I felt her topic maybe did not match with ours, that was the main reason. Because Shyama and I talked, discussed, and argued on many things, Champa used to keep quiet during those times. She rarely brought up any topic. One day Barua sir also said, why don't you two include Champa when you talk. I was surprised; we never excluded her. She used to sit with us, stay quiet, and listen to us.

One day, Sir asked, "Do you know how to make pudding?" At that time, I didn't know how to cook. Syama replied, "You have to mix milk, sugar, and eggs together and then steam it." Sir couldn't believe it's so easy. He said, "You must do something more." Syama said, "Oh, then till now we were making wrong pudding!" Sir burst out laughing. We all liked Syama's sense of humour.

Nowadays, I don't know what Champa is doing, but I have some connection with Shayma. She is working in a bank, married, and has children.
