Biography 287: Some memories at Barua Sir's home - A

We, the three girls, used to study together at Barua Sir's house. Barua Sir was our math coach in grade 10. The three of us came from three different schools. I was from Matijhil Govt Girls High School, Shayma was from Adorsho Shishu Shikkhaloy, and Champa was from Kamalapur High School. Our homes were in two different neighbourhoods. I and Champa used to live on the same road.

We girls became very friendly with each other. Among us, Shyama was very talkative, and I guess more intelligent. She was sir's favourite. She used to talk with me mostly. I think I am a very good companion. Champa used to stay behind a little. She also can talk a lot, but she said she couldn't find any room to talk when we two were talking. Shyama said, "no one will give you a chance, you have to raise your voice." I felt her topic maybe did not match with ours, that was the main reason. Because Shyama and I talked, discussed, and argued on many things, Champa used to keep quiet during those times. She rarely brought up any topic. One day Barua sir also said, why don't you two include Champa when you talk. I was surprised; we never excluded her. She used to sit with us, stay quiet, and listen to us.

One day, Sir asked, "Do you know how to make pudding?" At that time, I didn't know how to cook. Syama replied, "You have to mix milk, sugar, and eggs together and then steam it." Sir couldn't believe it's so easy. He said, "You must do something more." Syama said, "Oh, then till now we were making wrong pudding!" Sir burst out laughing. We all liked Syama's sense of humour.

Nowadays, I don't know what Champa is doing, but I have some connection with Shayma. She is working in a bank, married, and has children.

Biography 156: A teacher

I have studied at Eden Mohila College for 1 month. After getting admission from the University of Dhaka, I left that college. I was in stress and angry while studying in college. When I got out of there I felt I had started breathing again.

I am not a person who complains. So, I didn't say anything to the college; I just kept watching. Every moment they kept me thinking, why is this happening? Who has the power to fix everything? Corruption was everywhere.

First, I didn't find the study method extraordinary when the class started. It's like based on a textbook.

I heard from other girls that the dead of our department isn't available. She has some mental issues, staying at home. I was thinking, if I stay here, I might face the same problem.

After a couple of classes, one day, I was standing on the balcony, waiting for the next class. I saw a woman come, wearing a burka. She was short and a little weighed. She came close to us and said I am your department head. I was scared a bit because I had heard about her mental issues.

The office room of our department was close to our class. That office room had two doors. One door was locked; we saw it from the beginning. Teachers use to use the second door.

This teacher found the door locked. She was trying all keys in her parse to open the door. I thought about what would happen next. A girl from our class went to her and showed her that the next entry was open. She got relieved and went inside. I felt, yes, she has some trouble mentally. I didn't know how her co-worker would adjust to her.

Then she came to our class. She started taking our class, and I was amazed by her knowledge. Her teaching style was amazing. She was talking from her knowledge, not just from her textbook. We were amazed by her knowledge. In the end, she said, many people are trying to put her down politically (no wonder). But by the grace of Allah, she was still in the department.

I understood how misinformation can ruin someone's career or image. I don't know how she is now. But from the bottom of my heart, I salute her.

A sweet old Bangla song of friends

Here is the Song

My teacher I want to learn name signing

No body should be able to say
that your student has no brain.

Rahamat brother I want to teach you name signing
Rahamat brother I want to teach you to name signing
Nobody should be able to say
You don't have any knowledge, Rahmat brother
My teacher, I want to learn name signing

Knowledge is priceless, it's the most expensive thing
I have learned this after coming to you to study

After learning reading and writing, when you will become a man
Even if you die, the world will remember you
Who are great in knowledge
They are the head of all people of the country
So, please remember this in your work
O Rahmat brother
My teacher, I want to learn name signing

You can tell me, friend or brother, I love you
Morning or afternoon that why I come to you

except you, I don't have anyone in my sorrowful life

Whetever I have I want to live like that
I won't live you ever
We are the brothers from one mother
People from the world will know that we are two brothers
O Rahmat brother
My teacher, I want to learn name signing

(Anger, after marry)

[English version has given below]

I have studied in Kamalapur High School from class 2 to 4. When I first enrolled there, I heard about a teacher, Mr. Alamgir. He was a very angry man. Students liked him and also scared of him very much. As usual boys were very naughty who made noises in the class. All teachers felt trouble to manage them. But if they heard that Alamgir sir are taking class just beside their class, the class become pin drop silent.

One day we get to know that Mr. Alamgir is getting married. All teachers were very excited. Then he returned from his marriage vacation. We saw he became very happy and came with a smiley face. Later we also found that he doesn't get angry like before and don't like to hit any boys. Day by day he became nicer person. Boys stop fearing also.

Recently I heard some colleagues are thinking to give marry another colleague to reduce his anger... so my memory brought this to my mind. Well I have seen this marriage therapy really works on some guys :)

(In front of our teacher)

[English version  has given below]

After getting admitted in Dhaka University we heard that we will have a new teacher for our practical class. Then 4 months passed, no one arrived.

Suddenly he came and starts behaving very rude with us with high volume. I was sure he will have some treat from university students (I was wrong). Anyway, before exam, one day we understood there is an important question that we need to ask him (teacher). Now who will go? We 3 friends use to stay together always, but no one is ready to go now. I said no excuses. OK, I will talk with him, but you two have to stay with me. After some argument they agree.

I knock the door and get into our teacher's cabin. I found our Sir is cleaning his room with duster. I said, "We have some question regarding exam". With smile Sir said, "Yes?"

Before I say anything I looked back, and saw there was no one! My brave friends didn't get into the room, they let me get it and then run away! (I will give you a good lesson!)
