Biography 194: Masters of Science

We were the last batch of our department who had completed their bachelor's degree with honours in 3 years. From the next batch, they had 4 years of bachelor's degrees. To make the education system similar to that of the Western world.

Then, I did 1-year postgraduate (MSc). According to our marks, we were divided into two groups in Masters. Thysis group and non-thysis group. I was in the Non-Thysis group. Then, we have the option to study urban planning or rural planning. I have taken Urban Planning. Our professor was Nazrul Islam. We were lucky to have such a professor. The University of Dhaka should be proud of him because of his knowledge, research and good teaching style.

Though there are some things that I don't like about him. During our class, he told us he had given very lovely lectures last year, but he found students had written from somewhere else in the exam. Their note should have included his opinions.

So, we all make notes in his class based on his lectures. Next year, we heard him tell the junior class that this class didn't write anything new; we made him read his own words only in the exam paper.

I was angry for some other reason. He gave marks on viva at the end of all exams. I got only one mark less to achieve first class.

It hurts.

Trying to change

You have no idea how stupid I am. When people get to know about that, they become speechless. How ridiculous a person can be.

Businessmen try to make money from their consumers as much as they can. In my case, sometimes they say you have given enough. Go somewhere else that will take less from you. Even I am not feeling good about this. This didn't happen once; it happened several times in different countries.

I always try to help people. Because I know how difficult it is to handle everything all by yourself. How it feels when there is no help for you.

One day, someone told me, don't help if they don't ask for it. I knew he was right. I try to follow. But then again, I compare it with myself. I don't ask for help. Though I always needed.

The most stupid thing I do is when I help some people who don't want that help. Even they refused to take my help. But I knew they actually needed that help. So, by force, I help them. They kick me out of themselves. Though they get benefited because of my help. I knew they needed that help.

I am trying hard to change myself. Mainly to stop this force help. Only keep this going with my son. And again, he doesn't want me to help or care for him.

Biography 193: Cox's Bazaar Tour 4th time.

4th time I went to Cox'a Bazaar with Graphic People friends. Some of them, with their spouses, are my Facebook friends now. Whenever I went to Cox's Bazar beach, I found everything had changed. It is a very fast-growing and developing tourist spot in Bangladesh.

This time, I actually didn't want to travel. One reason is I have seen this place already. Another reason is that I like to travel in comfort. I don't try to save money by leaving comfort. But many people keep their primary target to save money. They travel by expending as little as possible. I am not saying this is wrong. I am just not that kind of person. I like to stay good, as much as possible. I knew the group wouldn't like it. So, I said no at the beginning.

But the tour leader, Shohrab Bro, isn't going to let any group member stay home. He arranged special treatment for me, like a luxury seat on the bus and an AC room for only my family. But I had to go with them. I really liked all of them. We travelled together. I recommended fish BBQ on the sea beach and going to Saint Martin's Island. Our group leader listened to these two recommendations. I am sure everybody enjoyed it. The rest of my suggestions didn't work out. That's OK. I wasn't the group leader.

It was a great tour. Then I moved to Canada. I heard the group went to Sylhet next time. I missed that tour.

Turning off the TV while dining

As much as I can remember, I used to eat with my parents in my childhood. During my teenage age, I started taking plates from the table and going to the living room to sit in front of the TV. I used to eat while watching TV. I thought I was utilizing my time. Watching TV and eating.

My dad didn't like it. He always said this is not a good habit. You should sit at a table to eat your meal. And shouldn't watch the TV while you are dining. I didn't disagree with him in those days, but I also thought my idea was better. So, I didn't listen to him.

Nowadays, my son wants to play games and eat food. Obviously, I didn't allow it. I let him watch the news during breakfast while he is having breakfast together at the dining table. At lunchtime, if he wants (He generally doesn't wish to except for holidays), he can watch a movie, but he has to eat together at the table. During dinner time, I close all the screens. Now, only he can see each other's faces and talk while eating together at the table.

Sometimes, he doesn't like the food I cook. I knew he had certain choices. At that time, I let him take food to his game table so he didn't waste it. While playing a game, he can finish his bowl slowly.

I hope my plan works for all generations. I hope I am keeping my father's words now (By taking food together on a table, not in the living room).

Song: Love Your Voice

Beautiful melody and a beautiful song.

English Translation:

My baby, I love

My baby, I love your voice

Oh, my baby, I love

Oh, my lady, lady

My baby, I love

My baby, I love your voice

Oh, my baby, I love

Oh, my lady, lady

I'm cold without you, I'm comming to you without any reason

Touch me unwittingly, say what makes us different

Everything's on fire and your eyes are unbroken universe like Narnia.

Loose them in the dark, but look at me carefully.

Storm, storm outside, won't come to our door

Storm, storm outside, but I can only hear your voice

Your gentle voice will save me

My baby, I love

My baby, I love your voice

Oh, my baby, I love

Oh, my lady, lady

My baby, I love

My baby, I love your voice

Oh, my baby, I love

Oh, my lady, lady

My baby, I love

My baby, I love your voice

Oh, my baby, I love

Oh, my lady, lady

My baby, I love

My baby, I love your voice

Oh, my baby, I love

Oh, my lady, lady

Biography 192: My 3rd Journey to Cox's Bazar

Tipu bro invited me to Cox'a bazaar with his team, Anika, her husband (Ex), Mushumi, and Fahad. I like to travel to new places. He said they would go to Saint Martin's Island too. I had never visited that place. So, I was happy to join them.

When you work together, you get to know about people. But when you travel together, you will find some hidden attitude, even after years of working together. It could be both positive and negative.

I never worried about myself. No matter how much I try, people don't like me. So, I don't bother about it anymore. I will just be myself. Like me or hate me, your issue, you better deal with that. I have no problem to travel with you.

I liked the hotel in Cox's Bazar because of its location, beside the sea. You can see the ocean from your bed. It looks like the Hotel's own tub.

On those days, there were two restaurants placed on the sea. They were made of bamboo. You could literally take food on the sea. I tried the "Loitta" fish fry, which Moushum recommended. This was amazing. If you ever visit the Cox'a Bazar, I recommend you try this.

We booked 3 rooms right one after another, like the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors. So, when we all came to the balcony at night, we could chat together. Travel always gives you small, tiny, beautiful memories to smile about later.
