আমাদের দেশে ভারী বোঝা নেয়ার সময় মানুষকে পিঠ ব্যবহার করতে দেখি। দার্জিলিংয়ে (পরে নেপালের পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলের ছবিতেও দেখেছি) দেখলাম, হালকা পাতলা মানুষ, মাথার সাথে ঝুলিয়ে কাপড় দিয়ে ঝোলা বানিয়ে ভারি ভারি বোঝা অবলিলায় পাহাড় বেয়ে উঠে যাচ্ছে। হয়ত পাহাড়ি এলাকায় এমনই নিয়ম। কিন্তু যখন দেখলাম ২টা গ্যাস সিলিন্ডার অবলিলায় মাথার সাথে ঝুলিয়ে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে তখন ওদের ঘার কত শক্ত সেটা নিয়ে না ভেবে পারলাম না।
এমনকি জলপাইগুড়ির চা বাগানের মেয়েদেরও দেখলাম, মাথার সাথে কাপড় ঝুলিয়ে ঝোলা বানিয়ে তাতে চা পাথা রাখছে। আমাদের দেশে দেখেছি পিঠের সাথে ঝুড়ি বেধে চা পাতা রাখছে।
In our country we saw people take heavy things on back. But in Darjeeling (Later in the pictures of Nepal) I saw even thin people are taking heavy things by using their head. They made a bag with a long cloth and tie that with the head. Then put all heavy things in it. Then they easily walk up the mountain with that heavy basket. I thought this must be the traditional way of this hilly area. I really shocked, when I saw two big gas cylinders were
carrying by a person in this way, how hard their shoulder is!!
I have seen same method in Jalpaiguri tea garden, though in Bangladesh people uses their back to hold the basket of tea leaf.
