Biography 240: Fire Alarm in a cold region.

There is a school in Saskatchewan. It was winter, and snow covered all outdoor floors, ground, and fields. At that moment, the fire alarm rang in the school. As prepared, all students, teachers, and workers came out as they were inside. They didn't have warm clothes, and some didn't even have shoes on their feet. A few lucky students had a break outside, so they wore proper winter jackets and boots.

A kid who had a jacket hugged his teacher as she was shaking in the cold. The vice principal saw this and asked that kid to hug students who needed warm jackets. The boy then hugged a student. When the student became calm, he went to hug another student. This way, the boy kept hugging people and trying to make them feel better.

After getting the green signal, all students went to the school again.

No homework

I believe students shouldn't have assignments to complete at home (Homework). Whatever teachers want to teach should be done in the classroom. All work should be done at school time. Home time should be for enjoying and learning from real life.

They might get assigned to do household work, like laundry, dishes, and preparing meals. They might also help mom or dad, clean the room and the whole house, fix things, create something for home, play with siblings or parents or alone, etc. They might also travel with the family to different places.

After school, time should be spent on real-life training with surroundings, such as going to old-age homes to the elders, giving time to junior schools to help juniors, going to the hospitals to help doctors, nurses, and patients, and going to any office where they can help and do real office work. They can go to a shelter to help people who needed, help in community center and food banks.

We should merge school life book learning and real-life learning. Not take all of their time from their life. We should keep room for them to increase their creativity. We should teach them how to utilize their time. How to have good business ideas to start earning.

What Shafeen did in his first day at school

Shafeen is ready to go to school

Yesterday was Shafeen’s first day at school. He was very happy with his school and told me he wants to go there again and again. In one and half hour school:
  • he played,
  • join class,
  • color his book,
  • fight with his new friend,
  • took back his water pot from other child,
  • took chocolate from miss’s (teacher’s) table, because she didn’t give it by herself,
  • eat at tiffin time,
  • play in the play area (including basketball),
  • get hurt by dropping down,
  • tear his water pot's belt,
  • come back home by walking etc.

I don’t whether he will remember his first day or not, so I like to write it down for him. May be some day he will read it and show it to his son!
