Winter Storm

 My phone is giving me big alerts about the upcoming winter storm. I was wondering what I can do about it. My main concern is hydro power. If we have electricity, hopefully we will survive well, because our house might be warm then. But if we don't have power, we will be in an extremely cold situation within a few minutes. We can't stay like that. We have to go to a shelter. Here is another issue: if we get 30-50 cm of snow, no vehicle can rescue us. All will get stuck in the snow. So how can we go out, or can anything come to rescue us? If the storm wipes out the house, the situation will be much worse. I hope we won't fall into that situation.

Biography 248: The coolest day that I ever had.

 I was living in Saskatoon. On those days, almost every day for months, the temperature was -40c. One day, it was going to break its record. It went -65c. At that moment, I got ready to go out to work. So, take a picture of it, just to remember there is no bad weather in Canada, only bad clothes. That means you won't feel bad if you wear proper clothes that match the weather.

During my time in Bangladesh, I experienced the unique occurrence of six seasons in a year. However, living in the city limited my ability to observe significant changes in nature with each season.

Upon relocating to Canada, I quickly noticed the noticeable and dramatic differences in nature that come with each season. The winter season blankets everything in white, from trees to fields, houses, and roads. 

As the season transitions into spring, the snow begins to melt, leaving behind a grey landscape as depicted in the accompanying image. It seems as though this has always been the case.

Now Shafeen don't like winter

Last year, my son said to his class (nursery) that his favorite season is winter, because he likes show fall. Though he never bin in a place where snow falls. He saw it only in TV and internet. We are living in Bangladesh, a tropical country. So, here winter is a small season, and temperature never gone below 0 Celsius.

But this year we faced some cold wind blows. Shafeen (my 6 years old son) really face trouble while go to school in the morning and also attending his classes. While walking towards his school he told me several times, "My hand and nose are freezing".

So, when his new class teacher (My son is now in KG1) asked her class, "Do you like winter?" all answered, "NO! We like summer". I am pretty sure; they are going to change their mind in summer ;)

Like winter, not too cold weather

In Bangladesh, we like winter mostly. Because in this weather we (girls) can put good make up on face in big ceremony without worry about sweating. We plan to travel in different area, because weather won’t be too hot. Our winter is like western world’s summer. So you can assume why we like this weather.

When we see any winter picture of a cold country, we can see only white everywhere. No doubt it’s look beautiful. But we can’t imagine to live in a place where temperate is less than 18c. Many things look beautiful from far away… not when we get closer. 

Boys like winter for fashion

Shafeen liked the new  winter dress, he was 3 years old.

In Bangladesh, boys always like winter. This is the only time, when they can wear fashionable dresses, I mean as a winter dress. My son liked that too. Even in the class he tried to cover his head with the attached head cover. But class teacher didn't allow it. Sad for him J

Good for kid’s mom too. As in winter kids wear heavy dresses, and somehow they look little healthy. Which mother won’t like that?

Like all mother I want to protect my son from cold weather in winter. The interesting matter is I never bought any winter cloth for my son. All he has is from his elder (cousin) brother and some came as a gift. What I do is start wearing him as much cloth as needed. If he felt cold his forehead became warm, so I check it every now and then. So, if I understand the cloth isn't enough I wore him more on previous. It works!

winter really came in our office. our bosses (Nordic people) took winter vacation and went to Norway, some of our colleague take winter vacation with Christmas leave, some part time colleagues are coming less etc. So now a day, office is very silent, cold.
