Conflict and Its Aftermath

 Eric Hobsbawm (2002) states, “The 20th century was the most murderous in recorded history.” We understand how it happened. The two deadliest world wars occurred in the 20^th Century. The holocaust happened during the war. Almost the whole world was involved in these wars.

World War II, when Germany and Russia fought each other. Russia has one of the greatest weapons, which is its weather. In any war, they always wait for the Winter. Because different countries' soldiers were unfamiliar with Russia’s harsh winter, most were unprepared for it. Russian soldiers took that opportunity to win the war. This happened with Russia and Germany’s fight, too. Many German soldiers who got into Russia while fighting lost their lives. Some could fly and escape. But mostly couldn’t. Their dead bodies remain on the soil, eaten by the crows.

The Aftermath is now, when one German soldier comes and is looking for his friends, a current Russian responsible person helps them like a brother. They put aside the conflicts that happened long ago. They support each other with history. In that Russian area, they built a memorial for the German soldiers. Still, when they dug, they found the bones of German soldiers. The Russian historians are keeping all records. This is humanity. No matter how hard they fought in history. Now, they understand the cruelty of the war. And trying to keep the peace between the countries. 

Currently, Russia and Ukraine have been fighting with each other for years. Russia invaded Ukraine. The cities and the people of Ukraine are suffering terrible violence and disaster. Many people leave the country as refugees. Canada has taken hundreds of refugees from Ukraine. Other people are living in the subway, which is an underground train station, and soldiers are fighting with Russia. 

Roots:  These two countries were the roots of the USSR. Ukraine is a very resourceful country. Not only minerals, but they are also very rich in agriculture. They have a vibrant culture. Russia didn’t want to lose this resourceful area. And Ukraine didn’t want to stay under Russia like a colony. So that Russians will benefit from Ukraine’s resources and don’t give any power to that population. That’s why Ukraine wanted to join the EU, a group of European countries and North America. North America is Russia’s main opposite party in power. So, Russia tried to capture Ukraine with their army. The war started. 

The potential aftermath: Russia is using their latest model weapons, and EU countries are also giving new weapons to Ukraine to win the war. None of these are suitable for humans or the environment. So, both humans and the environment may suffer for a decade from this war.

The children are facing trouble in education. Though Ukraine has established schools in subway stations, they are not enough to educate children naturally.

Both countries may face financial trouble because of this long war. They primarily invest money in war, not in developing society and economic activities.

Because of the war, people from both countries hate each other. In the long run, hate-related crime may start. 

The world used to have resources from both countries, especially from Ukraine. Because of the war, supplies were interrupted, and in many countries, this created inflation. This may continue for years.

The course CO1 Community worker and the world

 1)      Some of the main ideas and relationships that inform your ideas about the world: 

I am a religious person. I believe the creator created all of us, including humans, non-human animals, and other natural things. We are responsible for all creatures and nature (like water, mountains, etc.), benefiting from them and living together in harmony.

But we know, everybody doesn’t think like that. Some people only seek profit and believe that if their home or part of the earth stays well, they and the next generation will remain good. But the truth is that we all share this earth. If in any place we destroy anything, like nature, the whole world will suffer. For example, the glaciers are melting at the North Pole, and small islands are sinking underwater in tropical areas. 

2)     Whether or not the learning that you have done in this course or any of your other courses this semester has shifted the way you understand the world you live in, your identity, or your relationships: 

Before I joined the program C101 Community Worker, I thought a community worker’s job was to help people who are in need. After entering the program, I learned from the courses Introduction to Community Worker, Interpersonal communication, sociology, and human right that community workers empower people; they work with them, not for them. People who are in trouble already know what they need. They don’t need any outsider who doesn’t know about them and has never lived with their problem, who will come and tell them what they should have gotten. So, the community worker’s job is to help them to achieve what they need and support them where they need support. Sometimes giving them time and listening to them is the best medicine for a problem.

I still believe Canada is the best multicultural country on earth. No other government treats people from different communities in such a generous way as Canadians do. After joining the program, I know there are still many rooms to upgrade for Canada. I learned this from the Indigenous course as well as the other courses.

The world is travelling to you

 In Canada, you don't need to travel the world to interact with people who may seem different; The world is travelling to you.

These words go with the city of Toronto mostly. People from around the world are coming to live in Canada. The majority of them are choosing Toronto to live with. This city became very diverse because of the multicultural people worldwide. You will see every country's people and restaurants in this city. If you just walk, you can never understand which country you are in. All blended into one nation, Canada.

In work, college or any leisure centre, you will meet and interact with people with different cultural backgrounds, education, experience, etc. It's a fantastic place.

Every good thing has some side effect. Sometimes people make a wrong impression by watching someone who is doing wrong. People will think that country people are evil. Actually, it's that person's personal behaviour. Here you represent yourself, your country, your culture, and even your religion. So, be friendly like a Canadian and be humble with everyone. And watch the world's culture in your neighbour.

To make a better world

 

 In Bangladesh, people think going abroad means going to heaven. It's a dream of almost every person to go abroad. Most of them don't want to come back, some of them think they will come back after a vacation or study. We believe the first world, is the best in every way.

The truth is, the first world is very good in many ways. But not everything is better than 3rd world. They even don't know, in some cases, 3rd world or 2nd world is managing things much better way. There are still many rooms to improve in 1st world.

So, we should think, we are all in the same world. Anything that we do, may give an impact somewhere else in this world. We have to try to make it better. The world won't get better by itself. We have to try. Maybe a very small step will give a very big good result in future, or maybe it will go in vain. But it's worth giving a try to make things better. Or just stay not doing anything wrong.

3rd world to 1st world.

When anyone came from 3rd world to 1st world, they first think everything is very fair and well driven over here. But you know, you came in 1st world, not in heaven. So, everything won't be fair as you expected. Though in many cases you will have satisfactory result.

What should be the main news on all over the world?

If we see the news channels all over the world, in most of the country, we will see, the main news they are giving is about dead people. Where, how many people are died. May be they guessed people likes to know about dead.

It’s true it’s important news, that we should aware and stop this. But I am sure most of the viewers are involved with other good works and they don’t watch news channels to know mainly about dead.

I have seen news in Chinese world (Chine, Japan, Korea, Singapore etc), their news are little different. They also tell us about dead but that’s not their main news. Their main news is on development. Where, how someone invented something and how it’s working. What make a group of people to go upwards? I liked this. This encourages people to make better thing, not only to be upset to know about deaths.
