Biography 284: Shafinaaz watched the movie.
Shafinaaz was my best friend in primary school. During those days, I was studying at Kamalapur High School. After a weekend, Shafinaaz said she went to watch a Bangla movie in the cinema hall with her family. The movie was "Banjaraan." The main actress was Shabana. Shafinaaz said she liked the movie. She even used to sing (hum) the song "Amra to banjaraan, dekhabo naach gaan" for the next couple of days.
I didn't watch the movie or listen to the song, but I guess it must be a good one since Shafinaaz liked it. I don't know where she is now. I hope she is having a great life.

Facebook Friend Request
Facebook always recommends friends' IDs to whom you can send friend requests. Earlier, whenever I found any known person, I sent them a friend request. Most of them accepted, some didn't accept, and some declined. I didn't mind. It's their choice. Just get to learn who looks friendly to me but doesn't want to accept my friend request.
With time, I have understood that I shouldn't disturb people. So, I let people stalk me without any disturbance. I only accept friend requests from the people I know and ignore those who irritate me.

My enemies are my fans.
People say, "to keep your friends close and enemies closer."
My life is going totally different ways. My enemies are my real fans. They might block me or never accept my friend request. But they will visit my profile regularly. Sometimes, with fake IDs. Just wanted to know what I am doing. And if I am doing any good, they will feel jealous and try to put me down repeatedly. Gang up against me so that no one can do any good to me or can ever communicate with me. But They, themselves, can't stop looking at me. Real fan. They knew very well that I had some qualities (Which I couldn't find) that would take me up from them. So, they don't take any chances and always keep an eye on me.
I don't have any friends. Some people were good to me, and I can say they were well-wishers. They stay out of my life. Don't want to get themselves in trouble. Don't want to go against the enemy gang. Or afraid to. They visit my profile once a month, once a year, for a couple of years, or not at all.
I didn't do anything. Both of them choose to live like that.

Biography 214: Tuheen
I have a classmate at the University named Tuheen. I have always seen him with Jamal (another classmate). One day, I heard Tuheen can cook. In Bangladesh, it's rare. Boys generally don't know how to cook. We were not close, but I knew he was a good man. Today, I didn't come here to talk about him.
At work, I met a girl named Tuheen, Khaleda Sultana Tuheen. She is small in size, she has beautiful big eyes, and her skin colour is very beautiful, yellowish. No, I didn't notice the skin colour at the beginning. A boy (Maybe Reja) once asked me to look at her skin colour. I saw it, it is really very beautiful. Then I told him, you are married, what are you looking at other girls. He felt embarrassed and said, no, no, I just wanted to show you, that's it. Now I am thinking, why did he show me? I should have asked that question at that very moment.
But I started liking her for another reason. When I first noticed her, she was talking with our trainer. She was such a fearless, jolly lady. She laughed and enjoyed music while working. She was in her own world. She didn't bother about others' thoughts. Later, we became close when we started eating lunch together in our common restaurant.
We started talking and sharing about many things. She was there whenever I needed anything to do. She kept me company in many things. We used to take lunch or snacks outside. Once, I made a travel plan with her and visited Rangamati. It was a great tour. We also joined a boat tour organized by my younger sister's college.
As we were close, we shared many personal, sensitive things. I was OK with everything. But she felt a little uneasy when sharing family problems with me. It's nothing new; almost all families face this kind of problem. But she started making some distance. At least, I think that is the reason.
Later, she asked me to arrange another tour with her to a new place. But I became busy with work and other problems and somehow couldn't plan a tour. Now I am thinking, why didn't she plan one? Why always do I have to take all the initiative?
She is now a successful entrepreneur in Bangladesh. She has worked with environmentally friendly goods and has sold them. I don't know if she had the option to sell those products abroad. I wish she had.
I have met three wonderful ladies in my life. They are beautiful in mind, body, and work. I really feel bad when others, especially boys, don't see those beautiful qualities in them. "Tuheen"is one of those ladies. I have never said her, but I genuinely believe she is one of the most wonderful people on this earth. Love you, my friend.

Biography 112: Chhobi
Chhobi, she was one year senior in school. We use to go to school together. Many people thought we were sisters. Because she was a tall girl, 5'7" and my height on those days was 5'4" (Now 5'5"). Our skin colour is dark brown and both of us liked to read books (Not academic books).
Most of the time I have seen her collect the book of "Sheba Prokashoni". My choice is always with varieties Sharat Chandra, Sattyajeet Roy, Humayun Ahmed etc. I even like comic books like "Nonte aar Fonte".
I use to go to her home to collect storybooks. At her home, she had a huge book collection. Probably her brother made that. I use to bring 6 to 10 books at a time. Read them as soon as possible, returned them and again brought some more. One day my mom stopped me. She thought I am going to fail in school or something like that. She asked me to return everything and never bring any book again. I didn't. At least from her home. But I had collected from other places in small numbers so that my mom won't notice. That worked.
Her home and my home were very close. She use to come to our home then we together took a rickshaw to go to the school. Sometimes, if I became a little late she had to wait in our living room. My dad use to be very angry with me. He said, "She is senior to you and you are making her waiting." Well, I didn't do it intentionally. When I got ready early I use to go to her home and wait and again we together took a rickshaw. I think in the morning I use to pay and on the way back home she use to pay to the ricksha puller.
The best time we had together is on the rickshaw. We use to talk. About so many things. But not about the school. We had a beautiful different tiny world together. Like which road is high from the ground in Dhaka city. In the Olympic game welcome ceremony who wear the beautiful dress. Most of the time we had different opinions and we use to debate (Never fight) on it.
When I was in grade 5, our classes use to finish 30 minutes earlier than the rest of the school. I had to wait 30 minutes for her. But I was never bored. I use to play in the school and utilized the time. When she left, I became alone in my school journey for one year.
After her school, she uses to buy pickles of "Chalta"/Elephant Apple every single day. I liked to have the variety in food. She always offered me the pickles and once or twice I have taken them from her.
One day we were coming back from school and she was enjoying her pickles as usual. We were on the rickshaw. There were two boys in a different rickshaw were on the road. Both rickshaws were going side by side in the same way. One of the boys started talking asking pickles from Chhobi. "Hey, it's not good eating alone. Share with us, please give me some of it, why are you so rude..."
I didn't like their disturbances, but didn't say anything or react. I looked at Chhobi. She had no reaction in her face, just enjoying the pickles as she always does. I was surprised, I keep looking at her, is she listening or not! Her poker face has no sign of reaction. The boys kept continuing their verbal attacks.
Chhobi finished her pickles, which were on a white paper. Some pickles juices were on the paper left. Suddenly she spread her hand outside and said," Nen, khaan"(Grab and eat). Both rickshaws were moving forward. Our one was a little forward than theirs at that moment. The paper with juices fly away and drop on the boys (Who were talking) white shirt. The juice colour was on his shirt. Everything happened in a moment.
The boy was surprised and screamed, What! Does anyone do like that! Our rickshaw puller understood the situation. He pulled the rickshaw as fast a possible and we were somehow flown to our home. I laughed out high. She kept her face the same. She said to me, "Why are you laughing so much. He wanted some and I gave him."
Oh, she was such a funny girl. I went to her home when her father died. It was a very sad moment. We didn't talk much. The last time I met her was in our area. We were walking on the road. In those days, I think she got married and started living in Narayanganj. She has already become a doctor. She said she is going to get training on Altra sound.
Now we don't have any contact. I wish I could find her on Facebook. At list a tiny relation I want to keep with her. I don't like to lose good people in my life.

Biography 111: Masuma Khatun
I was in Majhil Govt Girls High School from grade 5 to 10. In this period my best friend was Masuma Khatun. She used to live in Kamalapur. In her childhood, she had polio, so her one arm was not working properly. She was a very nice person, soft-spoken and honest. We always use to sit together.
As our house were far away, according to kids. We never visit each other's house. Maybe that's why now I have no communication with her. The last time I have seen her was after getting admission to Dhaka University. She said she is on the waiting list. As her marks are good, probably she will be called.
We get separated from the college (Grade 11). When I went to the Viqarunnisa noon college and She got admitted to the Matijhil Ideal College.
When I first sat beside Masuma in grade 5, she was crying. She said the person who used to sit beside her didn't like her. That girl put a mark on the bench and told her never to cross that line. She felt like she is not likable to anyone. Well, Allah knows, no one knows this feeling better than me. From the very childhood I use to see, no one likes me. And now I have accepted that situation everywhere.
I said to her, never feel hesitate to sit anywhere on this bench. It was a two-person seated bench with a desk. I use to share everything with her. Well, I didn't have much. She did that too with me. When we were in grade 10, one day she brought some notes on Islamiat subjects to me. She said her older sister has collected these. If you read it you will get a letter mark (80%), guaranteed. I didn't believe her because I knew, I don't read. But I did go through some of it and got a letter mark in the SSC exam. So, she was right.
Her father was a doctor. Her mother was from the original Dhaka (Dhakaiya). She liked me because I was kind of from Dhaka too (Bikrompur).
I remember one day she told me, she doesn't like to study, but when her maid (Having a maid is a very usual thing in Bangladesh) put everything in the proper place, she felt like taking a book and studying. Well, I didn't have that luxury. I use to do everything by myself. And I never liked to study school books.
Later I tried to find her a lot. I have searched on the net, Facebook. But she became disappear from everywhere. I wish I know where she is, how she is.

A sweet old Bangla song of friends
Here is the Song
মাস্টার সাব আমি নাম দস্তখত শিখতে চাই
My teacher I want to learn name signing

Biography 80: A friend from grade 2
![]() |
I have studied for 3 years in our neighbourhood school. I placed 2nd on the final exam of Grade 2.
The first boy was very popular in the school. Everybody knew he is a very talented boy and looks very cute. I remember one day a parent came to our class to talk to the teacher. They found Sumon who was submitting his classwork to the teacher. They said that he is very cute and hold his chin and smiled at him. In that position, he kept talking with them. I was laughing, they are treating him like a 3 years old boy.
Sumon was very frank with everybody. I mean with both boys and girls. I think he is the only boy to whom we all the girls use to talk. In that school, most of the students were from nearby houses. So, in the afternoon when go out to play, we meet with many of them. One day I and Buri (She is from our class) were talking in the playground. Sumon came to talk with us. I don't remember why both Buri and Sumon started arguing and trying to pull each other's legs. Buri showed Sumon that he has a hole in his shirt near his underarm. Sumon didn't agree to accept it as a fault, he told her that is to get some air inside the body in this hot and humid season. Sumon also told Buri, even she has holes in her dress. Well, there were some, those were frock designs. But Sumon isn't ready to accept that. I remember I was just laughing and listening to their conservation.
One day Sumon declare in the class that he loves Buri. Buri felt really embarrassed. Even when we grow up, I mean when we were in the 10th grade, we use to make fun with Buri by saying Sumon is her soul met.
In Bangladesh, parents always try to put their kids in a better school. On those days in our neighbourhood, there is another school which is known as a better school. So, Sumon's parents moved him to that school from grade 3.
Within a year, we moved to our own house from the rented apartment, in the same area. Then I don't remember after how many years maybe 10 or more, I saw Sumon and his family became our neighbour. We didn't talk but I have seen him a couple of times from our window. Then they moved somewhere else again.
My cousin use to live with us. He knew Sumon. He told me that Sumon has joined the organization directed by professor Abu Syed. My cousin also joined there. Then Sumon's academic results went down. I never expected that. I thought he is a scholar and will always make good academic results.
Then no connection for a long time. One day I found him on a TV program. He was presenting a program related to ghost stories. It was a quite popular program. I understood, he has started showing his quality.
Then again, long time no news of him. I moved to Canada. One day I found him on FB. He is living in the USA with his wife and daughters. Now a day, I can see his talent with his writings on Facebook. He is my only friend who is from grade 2 and which I'm still connected with.

Biography 49: I thought they are a thief
In our block, a Pakistani family lived. They had 3 kids. As far as I could recall the names Omar, Chanda and Kiran. Kiran was the youngest daughter of that family. There could be another boy, I am not sure. Their parent has some good relation with Teena's family. So, they use to come to Teena'a house. One day Teena told me that they steal. So, Teena decided to stop them from coming to Teena's house.
As a friend, I believed Teena, though I didn't see anyone steal. It's part of friendship. When a friend says anything bad about anyone, all other friends believe that. Now I know, this attitude is so wrong.
Anyway, Teena locked all the doors and stand on the roof. Those kids came. Wanted to come into the house. But Teena said, No, you guys steal, I won't let you in (In Bangla). They replied, "Hum chory nehi korenge (We won't steal, in Urdu). We don't speak each other's language, but we understood that conversation pretty well. Teena argued, "Na, tomra chury koro (No, you guys steal)", in Bangla. They have asked many times, waited for a long time. But Teena was very strict. At that time, as a friend without knowing anything I supported Teena. Maybe they came to Teena's house several times. But Teena never let them get inside.
From the bottom of my heart. I'm saying sorry to them. I wish I could stay neutral.
Teena had thousands of toys, she breaks and lost them many times. Teena's parents always suspect others. My mom told me they suspect me too. Many times Teena's dad came to our house walk around and look for something. As my mom warned me, I never touched any of her toys. Though my parent didn't buy me any toys. I wanted toys badly. But steal, I didn't touch others. I'm still like that. No matter how badly I want something, I don't say anything.

Biography 48: Teena
In my Saudi Arabia life, Teena was my best friend. We were living in the same compound in different houses. Both her parents were doctors. She was very beautiful, like her mom. She had a younger brother, named Faisal.
Both of our parents use to work full time. So, the whole day we stayed together and play together. She liked me. She told me so. Let me give you an example of her likeness.
During her aunt's marriage ceremony, they went to Bangladesh. Over there whoever says anything, she uses to reply, "Shimul apa says this thing should be done like this..... etc". Everyone became curious, who is this Shimul apa. Teena's mom replied, "Shimul apa is her Guru!"
Teena knew only one word in Arabic, "Keeda" which means, "This way". With this one word and her body language, she could explain the whole scenario.
One day Teena's dad bought her a bicycle. I didn't know or didn't put any importance on it. But my parents thought, now I may feel bad, if they don't buy any cycle for me. So, my dad took me to the market. We were living in a small town. And in the market, my dad couldn't find any other bicycle for me but the one Teena bought. She was younger than me, so it was her size. My dad looking for something bigger but a kid's version. But none was available. So, he had to buy the same one for me. I had ridden that bicycle with the training wheel on.
Here I want to give a suggestion to all parents. If you really want your kids to learn to ride a bicycle, remove the training wheels. Otherwise, no matter how much they practice, they will never learn to ride a bicycle, like me. My mom brought that cycle to Bangladesh. It was used for kids generation after generation. My younger sisters and brother use it. My brother removed the training wheels and he is the one who learnt to ride a bicycle. Then next generation, our kids also ride that cycle, including my son Shafeen.
We returned to Bangladesh from Saudi Arabia before Teena's family did. One day Teena came to meet with us with her family. She stayed with us the whole day. In the afternoon her parents picked her up. That was the last time we met. On those days, whenever I felt upset, I wished to go to their house, but I didn't know where they live. Later I heard, they went to the USA.

Biography 08: Dry skin
In my childhood, I spend most of my time by running, jumping and climbing. It was difficult for me to sit or walk. I didn't want to waste my time by taking care of myself. So, elders faced so much trouble to make me take a bath, comb my hair or any other personal care. Taking lotion or cream stayed far away. Then I faced the consequences. Some skin problems started on my leg, below my knee. It looked really bad. People can easily notice as I use to wear frocks. My mom noticed and put some medicine on it. It recovered, without keeping any mark on my skin.
But it took a while to recover. During that time, kids, kind of banned me in the playground. They played with my older sister. One day I was standing at the side, while other kids were playing. They directly told me, we won't play with you because of your problem. Then a little girl, named Lucky came to me and hold my hand. His brother was also there with other kids and my sister. He told her, "What are you doing? Can't you see her condition?" Lucky looked at me and said, "It's OK. I will play with you. Let's go!" I smiled and run with her to another place and we started playing. After that, we became a very good friend. She is the only person who stood up for me against every single person including her family. We had a small group of 3/4 years old kids.
But my luck was always the same. Nobody stayed in my life. On those days we use to live at South Komlapur, Dhaka. Lucky's brother's name was Russel (Probably). They moved to some other place and I have lost my best friend forever. Still, whenever I feel alone, in my mind I hold my little friend's hand and say, let's play.
Later I have started work in offices. Most of the day I had to stay in a air conditioned room. That makes the room a little dry. So, again I have faced skin problems on legs. This time I went to a skin specialist. They told me, my skin is dry. So, the whole year, I have to put lotion on my skin. Every time I wash my legs or take a bath, I have to put lotion, otherwise, it will create problems. I have followed the doctor's recommendation and my skin problem was gone.
When I have decided to live in Canada, I knew I will again face problems with my dry skin. And yes, I did. Now after every 6 hours, I try to put lotion on my skin. To make things better, planning to move to British Columbia. Where I will get rainy weather. So, I am assuming that will be good for me.

Are you thinking to make any id “unfriend”? Then think twice.
Thursday, October 25, 2012
Every relation has some expectations, some boundaries and some accepting level.
My favourite and most comfortable relationship is friendship. I love them. I care for them. Whether they like me as a friend or not, I will help them (if needed) as much as I can. They all have negative and positive things. Some of them take hard drinks, chew tobacco, cheat, steal others' money, and have different views on many things from different religions; some don’t believe in religion. I like them all for their many positive things. Indeed, I won’t like to see them doing my “not favourite” things in front of me, but I won’t break my friendship. I really want my friend to be with me, always.

Why so less faith?

Generally I found that people like me, when they talk with me, see my work etc. But some times I don’t know why, some people just start trying to make me fall in bad situation. I really don’t know why these make them so happy….
What they do…. they start mixing with all person who like me, and start making bad comments, bad fun on me. I really surprise to see that they (who are making bad comments) change their (who liked me) minds. Who so? Why people so easily (just hearing bad from others) change their mind on me? Why so less faith on me?
