গ্লাসে পানি খেলে কি আর থুথু লাগে না? (When we drink water on glass, doesn't it touch our saliva?)

তামিমের (আমার বড় বোনের ছেলে, বয়স তখন 4 বছর ছিল) খেতে গিয়ে খুব ঝাল লেগেছে। আমি বেডরুমে প্লেটে করে খাওয়াচ্ছিলাম। বললাম, যাও দৌড়ে, ডাইনিং রুমে গিয়ে পানি খেয়ে আসো।

এক দৌড়ে গেল, একটু পরেই চলে আসলো। একটু অবাক হলাম। এতো তাড়াতাড়ি?

একটু পর শেখা (আমার সবচেয়ে ছোট বোন) আসলো গজরা গজরাতে, আমাকে নালিশ দিলো, তামিম জগ থেকে সরাসরি পানি খেয়েছে।

গম্ভীর হয়ে ওর দিকে তাকালাম, বললাম, জগে পানি খাবে না, গ্লাসে ঢেলে খাবে। ও বলল, আমার গ্লাস তো পাই নি। আমি বললাম, না পেলে যার গ্লাস সামনে পাবে, তারটাতেই খাবে।

ও বলল, "গ্লাসে করে পানি খেলে কি গ্লাসের গায়ে থুতু লাগে না?( মানে অন্যের গ্লাসে পানি খেলে কি আর সেখানে অর থুথু লাগবে না? শুধু জগের গায়েই লাগে?) "

বুঝলাম, যুক্তিতে ওর সাথে পারবোনা, তাই চিরাচরিত মুরুবি্বর মতোন বললাম,

"আমি এতো কথা শুনতে চাইনা, সব কিছুরই একটা নিয়ম আছে। জগে পানি খাওয়া চলবে না, আমি যেন আর না দেখি এরকম করতে..." 

Tameem (My elder sister's son, was 4 years old on those days) found the meal is too hot. I was feeding him at bedroom, so I told him to run towards dining room and take water. He run and came back within very short time. I was thinking.... too fast? After some time my youngest sister Shekha came in anger and told me Tameem drunk water from the jug, directly (didn't use any glass).

I give him a look, and told him, never drink water from jug. Always use glass. He said I couldn't find my one. I replied, and then take any other person's glass, but jug.

Then he replied, when I drink water on other’s glass won't my saliva touched that? Or it happens only with jugs?

I understand I won't find any logic behind this... so like other elders I told him, "Don't ask too many questions, when I said not to drink from jug, then that are the final."
