মেঘের উপর শহর (The town up on the cloud)

দার্জিলিং শহরটা খুব সম্ভবত: ৬০০০ফুট উঁচুতে অবস্থিত। তার আগে ছোট ছোট আরো ২টা শহর পার হতে হয়। এই শহর গুলোও পাহাড়ের উপর।

মাঝে মাঝে মেঘ এসে ঘরে, রাস্তায় ঘিরে ফেলে, আবার চলে যায়।

রাস্তার পার ঘেষে বাড়ি। আপনার মনে হবে একতলা বাড়ি। আসলে আপনি হয়তো ৫তলার ঘর দেখছেন। সিঁড়ি বেয়ে পাহাড়ের গা দিয়ে নিচের তলায় যেতে হয়। পুরো শহরটাই পাহাড়ের গায়ে। শহরের রাস্তা গুলো উচু নিচু ঢেউ খেলানো। মাঝে মাঝে সরু পায়েচলা পথে পাহাড়ের নিচে বা উপরে উঠে গেছে। সেখানে পাকা বাড়ি।

রাতের বেলায় যদি আপনি উপরের দিকে তাকান তো তারার মেলা দেখতে পাবেন। আবার যদি নিচের দিকে তাকান তবুও তারার মেলা দেখবেন। আসলে সেগুলো হলো পাহাড়ের গায়ে লেগে থাকা বাড়ি ঘরের বাতি।

আমাদের সাথের পর্যটকরা বলছিলেন, তারা আগে দার্জিলিং এর কথা শুনেছেন, কিন্তু নিজে না এলে কোনদিন বুঝতেন না শহরটা এই রকম।

Darjeeling town may be at 6000 ft high. Before reached at this town we had to pass two smaller towns. Those towns are also on the mountain.

While we were on the road we could see clouds are coming towards us, covers us and then go away. While you are walking on the road you may feel houses are one storied. Actually you are wrong, you are watching the top floor of the total building, and if you go down with stairs you will find there 3 or 4 more levels. Total town build on the mountain. Roads are going up and down like wave. Among them sometimes you will see narrow foot walk roads going upwards or downwards to a building.

At night if you look up you will see many stars on the sky. If you look down, you will also see many stars. Those are actually the lights of the houses on the body of the mountain. 

People who are with us agree, they had heard about this city many times, but couldn’t imagine the real beauty before they get in here.
