Biography 204: Attended regularly on time.

From my school life, my parents sent us to school every day. When most students were absent on rainy days, our parents always sent us to school, probably because of my mom. She believed we may miss some part of education if we miss school. She tried everything possible to give us a good education. However, in Bangladesh, teachers don't teach us much when most students are absent on rainy days because most of them are not there. Sometimes, they (teachers) used to say, Ok, you guys can open the book and read anything by yourself. We opened the book and kept chatting with each other or playing games in our seats. The teachers didn't mind as long as we started disturbing the other class by making noise.

My older sister always got angry because of my parents' attitude. I didn't mind. Maybe I didn't know I could be absent from school by my choice.

It made a habit in me. When I started working, I always went there regularly and wasn't late. In my first job, the office declared to all employees that I was never absent one day and was never late for one day in the whole first year. My colleagues were surprised. Mr. Alam, one of my colleagues, said, "How is it possible? You must fall a fever at least for 2 days in the year!" I didn't. I had a sound body. And my parents made this habit in me that I am regular and on time.

Regent Park had a community newspaper, Regent Park Community News, which used to be published twice a month. In 1977, the Regent Park Community discussed the necessity of a community centre mainly for the youth, and they were planning and submitting a proposal on how and where it would be created. In those days, they had community guardians. The Salvation Army opened its first fitness center in Regent Park in 1977.

A beautiful song "Broken Angel."

I like its melody and the singer's voice.

"Broken Angel" is a single by Iranian singer Arash, released in 2010 by Warner Music. The music video features Swedish singers Helena and model Marianne Puglia.

Lyrics:

[Intro: Helena]

I’m so lonely, broken angel

I’m so lonely, listen to my heart

[Verse 1: Arash]

You, you are the one

I miss you so much

Now that you’re gone

Don’t, don’t be afraid

I’ll be by your side

Leading the way

[Chorus: Helena]

I’m so lonely, broken angel

I’m so lonely, listen to my heart

One and only, broken angel

Come and save me before I fall apart

[Verse 2: Arash]

I wish that I could touch

Touch you again

Feeling in love

Don’t want it to end

Two, two worlds apart

Less in a dream, it’s breaking my heart

[Chorus: Helena]

I’m so lonely, broken angel

I’m so lonely, listen to my heart

Onе and only, broken angel

Come and savе me before I fall apart

[Bridge: Arash]

La la leyli, la la leyli la laaaaa

La la leyli, la la leyli la laaaaa

[Chorus: Helena]

I’m so lonely, broken angel

I’m so lonely, listen to my heart

One and only, broken angel

Come and save me before I fall apart

I’m so lonely, broken angel

I’m so lonely, listen to my heart

One and only, broken angel

Come and save me before I fall apart

[Outro: Arash]

La la leyli, la la leyli la laaaaa

La la leyli, la la leyli la laaaaa

Biography 203: Hindi movie songs

It is a tradition to add songs and dance to movies on the Indian subcontinent. It is like that from the very first movie in this area.

In my childhood, when we watched Hindi films on VCP, we used to fast-forward the songs. This was mainly because they were not watchable with a family (We did it with the love scenes too), or maybe we liked to watch movies without singing and dancing. But we all used to watch the "Chhaya Chhondo" program on BTV (Bangladesh Television). This program was dedicated to film songs. They used to telecast only Bangla Cinema songs. I liked it.

One day, I told one of my schoolmates about this fast-forwarding song. She was surprised. She said watching songs is the main thing for them when watching a movie.

I don't know why, what we avoided in the movie, but liked to watch it separately. That's why sometimes I have heard or watched a song, not the movie. Or watched the movie. not the song.

A Hindi song

I don't know why this song is running in my head. I didn't see the movie. I heard the cost of making this song is 600000 Rupi (Indian currency). In those days, a movie could have been made with this amount of money. Nice song. Karishma said she had 30 outfit changes for the hit song "Jhanjhariya" in the 1996.

Singer: Abhijeet Bhattacharya

Music Director: Anu Malik

Lyricist: Anand Raj Anand

Movie Cast & Crew:

Producer : Dhirajlal Shah

Director: S. Deepak

Cast: Sunil Shetty, Karisma Kapoor

Lyrics:

Jhanjhariya Uski Chanak Gayi

Chunnari Bhi Sar Se Sarak Gayi

Meri Nazar Usse Mili Toh

Uski Nazar Sharma Ke Jhuk Gayi

Jhanjhariya Uski Chanak Gayi

Chunnari Bhi Sar Se Sarak Gayi

Meri Nazar Usse Mili Toh

Uski Nazar Sharma Ke Jhuk Gayi

Jhanjhariya

Usse Nazar Mili Beech Bazar Mein

Ha Usse Nazar Mili Beech Bazar Mein

Dil Gaya Lut Nazaron Ki Takarar Mein

Mud Mud Ke Woh Dekhe Mujhe

Jaise Ki Woh Khud Bhi Machal Gayi

Jhanjhariya Uski Chhanak Gayi

Chunnari Bhi Sar Se Sarak Gayi

Meri Nazar Usse Mili Toh

Uski Nazar Sharma Ke Jhuk Gayi

Jhanjhariya

Kissa Ajeeb Tha Pahali Mulaqaat Ka

Kissa Ajeeb Tha Pahali Mulaqaat Ka

Aalam Gazab Huwa Mere Dil Ke Hal Ka

Ik Pal Mujhe Aisa Laga

Jaise Meri Dhadkan Ruk Gayi

Jhanjhariya Usaki Chanak Gayi

Chunnari Bhi Sar Se Sarak Gayi

Meri Nazar Usse Mili Toh

Uski Nazar Sharma Ke Jhuk Gayi

Jhanjhariyaa Uski Chanak Gayi

Chunnari Bhi Sar Se Sarak Gayi

Meri Nazar Usse Mili Toh

Uski Nazar Sharma Ke Jhuk Gayi

Jhanjhariya

Take care of your health

I am saying this to all, especially to women. When a woman becomes a mother, she cares for nothing but the child. After the child is born, she accepts all problems, which she can't say to everyone. But she keeps doing everything possible and impossible for her baby.

But we have to remember that if you stay well, then only you can take good care of your baby. To do everything for the baby, you have to stay fit, in sound mind, careful, and everything else.

When you encounter trouble on an airplane, you are told to take an oxygen mask and breathe first. Then, give it to your child. If you don't have breath, you can take care of your child's breath.

My mom use to say, Health is the key of all happiness. You may become rich, strong, or get the life you want. But if you ignore your health, you may not enjoy any of it. How can you travel and enjoy your life if you stay in a hospital bed, paralyzed, in pain? Sometimes, no medicine doesn't work. You even won't understand if there is anyone holding your hand and waiting for you or not.

So, no matter what happens, if you think you need to achieve something, give time to it. But always keep room for your own health—for food, exercise, and other activities. Mostly, love yourself. Everybody may leave you, but you shouldn't leave yourself. You need to be loved. We can say this way, there is no need to drop tears; buy yourself flowers.

Bangla song: Kine de reshmi churi

This is a beautiful old Bangla song. The last time I heard it, it was on the train. In Bangladesh, if you journey in the standard compartment (not the first class), you may listen to some songs. This is one of them.

Released: 1977.

Singer: Asha Bhosle.

Music: RD Burman.

Lyrics [with English translation]:

Hey, will you go to the fair?

Ha ga, melay jabe naki

হ্যাঁ গা, মেলায় যাবে নাকি?

Yes, I will go.

হ্যাঁ, যামু।

ha jamu.

What will you buy for me?

কী কিনা দিবা?

ki kina diba?

Whatever you say.

যা কইবা তাই

ja koiba tai

Really?

সত্যি?

sotti?

Yes, true

হ্যাঁ, সত্যি

ha sotti.

Haa

(Yes)

Kine de reshmi churi

(Please buy me bangles)

noile jabo baaper bari

(Otherwise, I will go (back) to my dad's house)

dibi bole kaal katali

(You told me many times that would buy these for me)

jani tor jarijuri.

(I know, you always give me some excuse)

gatobar bolechili

(Last year you promised me)

melate niye jabi

( that you will take me to the fair)

sari na diye amay

(Instead of buying a sharee (dress))

khawali chhola muri

(You impressed me with Chhola Muri/food)

kine de reshmi churi

noile jabo baaper bari

dibi bole kaal katali

jani tor jarijuri

michhe kathay tor moto

(No one tells)

keu nei re aar

( lie like you)

tor tulona paoa

(Some one like you (liar))

jagote je bhaar

(is difficult to find)

bhalo manush peye amay

(You found me a good person)

bholali ki chholonay

(Empressed me with sweet words)

ebare bhulbo na to

(This time it won't work)

joto korish chhal chaturi

(No matter how much you show your tricks)

kine de reshmi churi

noile jabo baaper bari

dibi bole kaal katali

jani tor jarijuri

are taka jodi na thake

(If you do not have money)

to na dibi

(You don't have to give anything)

hath dhore amay

(Hold my hand)

apon kore nibi

(Make me yours)

ami jwalate toke

(I wanted to mess with you)

bolechi koto boke

((That's why)Said unnecessary words)

janish prem kombe na to

(That won't make the love less)

joto hoi buro buri

(No matter how much old we became)

kine de reshmi churi

Biography 202: VCR Era

In my childhood, a new culture grew in Bangladesh. We can call it VCR culture. People used to rent Video cassettes from a rental store to view movies at home. They kept a VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) at home to play the cassette. In every block, a new video cassette rental store is established. In school, students discussed what film they had viewed the day. One of my school friends, Falguni, said that every day from 9 pm was their movie time. After dinner, the whole family would stay together to watch movies.

My dad went to the mall to buy a VCR with his boss. This boss became our family friend; his family always attended our Eid and Birthday parties. My mom and dad visited their house, too. Mom said she had never seen such a neat and clean house. All credit goes to his wife. My dad became his friend because they both like to try new electronic items. So, when they went to buy a VCR, they came back with a VCP. Because it was new in the market and had sound technology and a remote.

Anyway, the VCP (Video Cassette Player) era started in our house. My dad used to bring all the cassettes. We used to watch movies according to his choice. I must inform you that most of the movies were Hindi. This VCR era taught me Hindi, which has become a good asset now, after all these years.

This era continued until the cable TV era started. Cable TV and multiple channels started one after another to support each other. People stopped renting cassettes; they could view movies and other programs on TV with a minimum monthly subscription. Technology changed. The video cassette store was turned into a VCD disk rental shop. That is also demolishing too. Nowadays, kids have no idea what a video cassette is.

On those days, I had performed a TV program. I danced. My father recorded the whole program. My sister's programs and many other recordings were at home. With time, all were destroyed. Now, we don't have any copies of that program.

Song: Am I wrong?

A beautiful song: Am I Wrong

Song by Nico & Vinz

Lyrics
Am I wrong for thinking out the box from where I stay?Am I wrong for saying that I'll choose another way?I ain't trying to do what everybody else doingJust cause everybody doing what they all doIf one thing I know, how far would I grow?I'm walking down this road of mine, this road that I call home
So am I wrong for thinking that we could be something for real? Now am I wrong for trying to reach the things that I can't see?But that's just how I feel, that's just how I feelThat's just how I feel trying to reach the things that I can't see
Am I tripping for having a vision? My prediction; I'mma be on the top of the worldHope you, hope you don't look back, always do what you decideDon't let them control your life, that's just how I feelFight for yours and don't let go, don't let them compare you, noDon't worry, you're not alone, that's just how we feel
So am I wrong for thinking that we could be something for real? Now am I wrong for trying to reach the things that I can't see?But that's just how I feel, that's just how I feelThat's just how I feel trying to reach the things that I can't see
If you tell me I'm wrong, wrongI don't wanna be right, rightIf you tell me I'm wrong, wrongI don't wanna be right
If you tell me I'm wrong, wrongI don't wanna be right, rightIf you tell me I'm wrong, wrongI don't wanna be right
So am I wrong for thinking that we could be something for real? Now am I wrong for trying to reach the things that I can't see?But that's just how I feel, that's just how I feelThat's just how I feel trying to reach the things that I can't seeThat's just how I feelThat's just how I feelThat's just how I feel trying to reach the things that I can't see
