Once upon a time, I use to sleep a lot. A lot means both day and night. Then after becoming a mom that thing changed totally. Now in Canada I have 2 jobs, part time student and also a mom. I could only sleep 4/5 hours in 24 hours. Life became crazy. But things changed after a while, first my work places reduced my working hour, which means reduced money. I got some time at home and I was happy that at least I can take care of my family more. It was really needed. Then I became sick. For couple of days and now I am staying at home. Mostly lying on my bed, it's really rear now a day. Trying to give myself rest as much as possible. If I can't get recovered by 3 days, I have to make an appointment with a doctor, by tomorrow. Let's see what's next. Just trying to enjoy my sick holidays as much as possible on bed.

No time for sickness
I never felt I have enough time to do all things I want to do. But now I realize I even don't have time to get sick. If I get sick who will earn money for home, who will take care of my son and my home.... so before I die, I can't get sick. Though because of sickness I have taken 2 days off from my work and class. But worked at home, make meal... and visited doctors and did different medical tests... You can say actually I was busy. But still felt good that I didn't have work load from my work place...

মায়েদের অসুস্থ হবার উপায়ও নেই (A mother can never be sick)
A mother can never be sick. Actually she doesn't have choice.
After getting fever I took one day bed rest. Shafeen (my son) stayed at his grandmother's (maternal) house from morning to noon. My elder sister fed him. But still my son got fever 101. So, with the pain, all over the body I stand up and start taking care of him (feed him, sponge his body etc), and he became well. So no matter how you became sick... you have to keep going (after becoming a mother)

A service can be given to the sick people
Still I didn't recovered 100%. But work must go on, went to
son’s school. While returning home, did some daily shopping. When I reached
home, I felt I don’t have any strength at all. Just fall on bed. I couldn't get
up till 4 pm, still not feeling well. I wish there could be a service for sick
people. Who will provide shopping if needed, serve cooked food when needed and
clean the house for the sick people…. When you feel good just stop the service….
Ah it’s not heaven, no matter how bad you feel, you have to take all
responsibility.

In sickness wish to live like a queen
![]() |
| Shafeen relaxing on floor |
Whenever I feel sick, I want to live like a queen. Yes,
queen. Then I can take rest in bed all the time. All of my daily work will be
done by others like setting hair, nail cutting etc. Preferred food according to
my health condition will arrive, like soup, juice etc. People will take care of
my son properly. Doctor will give me medicine so that I won’t feel any pain,
will sleep only and enjoy my sickness.
But the reality is I am living in the real world, where everybody
has their own work. No one can take 24 hours duty for me. So, I am taking rest
as much as possible and praying to Allah so that I can get well soon and start
my duty again.

Not to care about sickness

As much as possible, this is what I am thinking now. I don’t want to feel sick and stay home and take whole day rest. Take other person’s help. I really don’t like it. Wish to get well 100%.
There is a proverb in Bangla “health is the main actor for happiness”. You can get everything, but if you are not in good health then you can’t enjoy anything.
