We can see garbage cars are big in Canada. They must have more blind spots than any other car. We have heard of many accidents with garbage cars. Mostly, pedestrians died.
I think, we need to work with garbage trucks to add more mirrors or sensors to avoid the problems or change it's structure to prevent accidents. People, indeed, have to be more aware of these trucks and their movement. Our car manufacturers or fixers can work on removing blind spots, too. We need to do more research on this to improve the situation with Garbage trucks.
Once, our office increased working hours. They said they needed us to work more because the company was in trouble. But still, I couldn't find out how increasing our working hours would increase company money. Instead, this would raise utility bills. Workers would be tired and unhappy and would have a bad impression of the company.
I was single, living with my parents. I was willing to learn more and do better in my career, so this was not a problem for me at all. But there were other girls in our office; they were facing trouble. Some were married, so their families expected them to return home and take care of them after work. One of the girls was pregnant. She definitely didn't want to work more and put more stress on her body.
Anyway, I heard that they wanted to request that the office management change this decision. Shampa came to me and asked me to join the girls as a girl. I thought we should stay united, so I said OK.
Our company owner came to the office in the evening, and the girls decided to talk to him. We all walk together. Near the door, I don't know how I was standing at the front. Anyway, I entered the room, and with me, all entered. The company owner looked at us.
Nobody was saying anything, so to avoid the awkward moment, I started talking. Without any preparation, without knowing what problems were going on with the girls because I had never had any meeting with them, I kept requesting to change the time. When our arguments were going on, sometimes Shampa supported me, but no other girls said a single word.
We were talking inside a glass room. So, the boys were watching us from outside. I kept pushing the argument until the company owner said, OK, I will have a look at this problem.
When we left the room, the boys became angry with the other girls. They said, why you guys didn't say anything, why only Shahana keep talking. Shampa said, I said some! Sharmy said, I knew nothing would change, so I didn't say anything.
I couldn't achieve anything from this initiative, as the company didn't change its timing. All the girls were punctual, and no one showed any trouble with the extra time.
Later, our Project Manager, Mr. Rana, told me you should prepare before discussing such a topic. You could bring up the pregnant women issue and other feminine issues where the company had nothing to say.
Yes, one thing I achieved from that argument was that the project manager started respecting me. If anyone complained about me, he always took my side and trusted me.
Racial, Ethnic, and Minority
Groups: Canada has different cultures. Here, Visible Minority means those
who are not Indigenous or Non-white. Nowadays, every five people in Canada has
one visible minor. Mostly, they came from three different groups. They are
South Asian, Black, and Chinese. However, in 1921, most of the people were
White. The Visible Minority lives in Two different cities: Vancouver and
Toronto. By 2031, 32% of the total population is projected to be a visible
minority. These visible Minority groups came because of Canadian Immigration
policy.
The concept of race changed
with time. Previously, theorists divided people into different races based on
geographical location, skin colour, etc. Nowadays, Race means when a group of
people is racialized by a social process.
Ethnicity means when a group of people
share their culture.
Stereotypes, Prejudice, and
Discrimination
Stereotypes mean oversimplified ideas about a
group of people.
Prejudice refers to beliefs or thoughts which are
held by a group.
Discrimination: When prejudice refers to biased
thoughts in a group, that is called discrimination. Examples include white
Privilege and institutional racism.
Income Inequality among Racialized Canadians: If
we check the income statistics, we will find that Institutional Racism creates
income inequality among the Visible Minority or Racialized Canadians.
Theories of Race and Ethnicity:
Issues of Race and Ethnicity can be observed by three theories:
functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interactionism. Functionalism:
Racial and Ethnic discrimination can be observed by Functionalism, which only
works with the Elite group of society, like slaveholders, who benefit from
slaves.
Intergroup Relations and the
Management of Diversity: Intergroup Relations refer to relations between
small groups, and Management of Diversity refers to who manages all the groups
in a society.
Race and Ethnicity in Canada: When
Europeans discovered Canada, they thought this a land of opportunity for them. However,
it was already occupied by the Indigenous people. Then came South Asian, and
South American people. A lot of Africans went as a slave. The land became the settler’s
attraction. Here the only non-immigrated Ethnic group is the Indigenous
group. Once, they were the largest group of the population; however, now
they are only 4.3% of the total population of Canada. There are different
theories about how or when they came to this land—mostly believed that they
came from Asia in search of hunting resources. Then they settled, and
gradually, they had different groups with different thoughts, languages, and
cultures. The relationship between Indigenous people and Europeans has
developed in 4 stages.

My mother likes rings among all ornaments. I like rings, too, because they are less expensive, easy to carry, and easy to wear and take off.
On my birthday, Mom brought a ring. It was a little big, golden-coloured ring that looked like a gold ring. After my birthday, I wore it to the office. Shampa first noticed my ring, and she assumed I had gotten engaged. I didn't say anything; I just smiled. She couldn't keep her happiness inside herself, so she spread it to the whole office.
Many colleagues came to say congratulations. First I didn't get chance to explain, later I thought let them think like that. I am not getting married anyway. So, what's the difference. I can tell them after a couple of days. Let's just enjoy the fun right now.
Some male colleagues met with me personally and congratulated me. I felt maybe they had more feelings than a colleague to me. That made me think perhaps I shouldn't tell anyone about their misunderstanding. Let's better let them believe that I am engaged. This will be easy for me to handle the situation.
One day, Shampa had a doubt about my reaction. Because I was not telling anything about my fiance, I only brought my ring. I confirmed with her later that she was right.
I read somewhere that the best way to communicate with someone is by talking, not sending a message or any other way. I guess it is the best way.
But generally, I don't talk much. I always felt people must be busy with their work or having a good time with their family. So, I always send messages. So that whenever they are free, they can reply. And if they don't want to communicate with them, can ignore. I will understand and never send them any messages again.
Now, if I suddenly start calling them, they might feel something has happened, so what should I do?

Thompson. Inequality Based on Sexual
Orientation
“Inequality Based on Sexual Orientation”
When we discuss about the sexual orientation, we
need to look on many diverse issues.
Nature and Extent of inequality based on sexual
Orientation
In 2001 Canada Census first asked to couple about
their sexual relation and 34,000 couples informed they are in same sex. Female
couples have children 5 times more than make couples. Compulsory Heterosexism
is a system where it doesn’t believe any other relationship other than
Heterosexual and deny all feelings like gay, lesbian, bisexual, etc.
Ideological bases of inequality based on sexual
orientation.
The mainstream writer who might have differences
on Jews, Muslims etc., but they accepted the Gay and Lesbian concepts. Religion
and sexual orientation: Major reason of discrimination of different sexual
groups are because most of the people thinks it morally not appropriate. These
beliefs many times come from the religion belief. Law and sexual orientation:
In Canada federal and provincial legislation has created many laws to give
rights to same sex relations.
Discrimination based on sexual orientation
It’s true, with times more and more people are
accepting gay, lesbian, or other sexual people, but still some people are
facing hate in different communities. Victimization and hate crimes: The
hate crime sometimes goes too far that people beaten up another person and
killed only because that person was a gay.
Perspectives on sexual orientation and social
inequality
Sexual orientation inequalities can be understood
by different perspectives: Interactionist perspectives: focus on in
which criteria makes a person declare that the person is a gay, lesbian, etc. Functionalist
and conflict perspectives: From this perspective society punish the gay or
lesbian because they went against the social norms. Feminist and queer
perspectives: the feminist perspective has changed in many ways in last
four decades. Queer theory is a post-modern thought. It believes lesbian and
gay has different perspective in the critics.
How can inequalities based on sexual orientation
be reduced: We should remove social and legal barriers. What
can you do? Attend pride day, no matter from which sexual group you came
from.
