Coffee, for me.
Every person who drinks coffee has their own reasons. Some say it keeps them awake, others say it gives people energy. Some have become addicted and can't go without coffee. One individual told me it helps prevent cancer, even though that person chews tobacco in their gum. I don't know—if they don't want cancer, then why are they inviting them in their gum? Some like its taste, with or without milk/cream or sugar.
I like the aroma of coffee. If anyone makes or brings coffee into any room, the whole room's aroma changes. I love that. Even when I walk past any coffee shop or Tim Hortons and smell the coffee aroma, it makes me feel amazing.
I drink coffee to suppress hunger. When I get hungry between my meals, I try to drink coffee, especially at the workplace. I used to have coffee with cream and sugar. Nowadays, I only drink coffee with milk. I also tried black coffee. I tried it for a couple of days, but I couldn't keep it up.

Biography 308: As a renter
I am from Bangladesh, and I have never rented a house there. After I was born, I started living with my paternal grandparents. My grandfather gave that house to my father, so I have lived in it. Then moved in with my parents. My parents began their life in a rented house abroad, and later my mother built her own apartment building in Bangladesh. We moved there, and I grew up in my mother's house.
After getting married, I started living with my in-laws. It was a rented apartment.
The first time I rented an apartment was in Canada. I generally don't like to change houses frequently. I stay in a place as long as I can. I took 3 buses to get to work but didn't move my living area. Unless I have a major reason, I stay in the same apartment.
I have seen that my landlords liked me. Nobody wanted me to leave. I have never missed or delayed the rental fee. I intentionally never broke or damaged anything in the house. My credit score is always good, over 800 most of the time.
It's in my nature to try to adapt wherever I live.

Body shape
When you have a perfect (or regular) body shape, you don't need to worry about your dress. Anything you wear will look good or good enough. I had that kind of body. Now I miss it.
Now a day, I have a very special body shape. No matter how much I try, I won't look good or even OK.
So, again, I stop worrying about my dress. Whatever I wear will look peculiar.

Biography 239: Medical Condition
In my childhood, our doctor found I had rheumatic fever. He prescribed penicillin injections. I had to take the painful injections for a couple of months. Actually, my younger sister Sonia and I took it. Our blood report showed we had a very high ESR level. Sonia had 600, and I had 800. The average level was 200. After taking the injections for a couple of months, my sister's level became normal. My one was on 400. My mom stopped giving inject to both of us.
When I was over 18 years old, another doctor tested me and said I didn't have rheumatic fever, and I never had. But due to some medical condition, she gave me thyroid tabs. Not only her following 2 doctors also gave me the same thyroid medications. I took it. I felt good. But whenever the medication finished, I started facing the same problems.
When I became pregnant, my doctor tested and said I didn't have any thyroid problem, and probably I never had.
She suspects I might have a problem in my heart. I went to the National Heart Foundation. The doctor from that organization tested and told me my heart was OK; there wouldn't be any problem delivering a child.
When I was 8 months pregnant, I was facing too many problems. One night, I had to go to the clinic for my health condition. They keep me over there the whole night. In the morning they said, now you are ok, we don't know why the problem happened. I said I wouldn't go home, and I decided to go through the C-section. After the operation, my doctor said, "Shahana, don't fall asleep; I want to show you something. She hold my son up and said, your son made three nodes with the tube, he wasn't able to get food inside. You have made a very good decision, Shahana." Then I fall asleep.
When I woke up, I looked at the wall clock. I had been sleeping for nine hours, and I was still in the operating room. My body was hooked up to the machine. Later, I got to know that my heart stopped. I had some problems with my heart, and that's why, after getting the anesthesia, it stopped working. I had to take 4 asteroid injections and many other procedures to get my heart beating again. My doctor said I was lucky that the anesthesia was from a Shohrowardy Heart Hospital. So, she knew how to handle this kind of case.
One day, I had terrible stomach pain. I went to a clinic. The doctor tested and said my liver had a small amount of fat. He gave me painkillers for that moment and asked me to keep an eye on my diet. Trust me, I am always very careful with my diet.
After coming to Canada, I had severe pain in my stomach, and then I had a breathing problem (The hospital said it was a panic attack). For both reasons, I went to the hospital, and after observing one night, they let me go home by saying I was OK now, and they didn't know why the problem had occurred.
Then I had pain in my feet and couldn't stand up in my workplace. My son somehow held me and made me walk to my car. I went to the hospital again, and they checked me. They said I had a planter fascist. I started taking painkillers and went to an orthopedic doctor. He made a new shoe for me with a machine. But my pain was still there. He said this is not only for planter fascists. You might have some other problem too. But my family physician didn't take any action for that pain. I left the job.
Later, I move to Toronto. My new doctor said I have arthritis. He also sends me to a heart specialist. The heart specialist said my heart sometimes started beating very fast and then became very low. He gave me some medication, too.
After three years, my doctor said I had to stop taking that painkiller. It will ruin my heart. I told him that without medication, I can't move from my bed, and Tylenol doesn't work on me. He checked my heart medication and said, OK, go on with your medication. But I was scared. My body is becoming more weak day by day. I had reduced my painkillers from 14 to 3 per week. Now, I am in pain for almost 24 hours. When I can't resist the pain, I start taking other painkillers.
I don't want to go to a doctor anymore. But I know I have to... I want to know precisely what is wrong with me and how to cure it. If it is not curable, at least they should tell me that clearly. Help me to live a good life.

About me and why did I get this Diploma
My name is Shahana Shafiuddin. I was born in Bangladesh. Because of my parents' jobs, I lived in Saudi Arabia for two years during my childhood. Then I started living in Bangladesh again, and about eight years ago, I came to Canada, to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. So, I have seen different cultures and communities from my childhood.
I like to see new places. That's why, after getting a job, I visited Malaysia, India, Bhutan, Nepal, UAE, and Canada. I have seen different cultures and communities in these countries. One thing I found very common among
all nations is that the general people are very nice.
I became a Canadian citizen and have lived in Canada
for about eight years. I first lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, for six years, and then I
moved to the GTA, Ontario.
I have Canadian work experience in Customer service and
Security. In my last job, I worked in a non-profit organization. While making
my career, I also volunteered at the Saskatoon Open Door Society. Over there, I
have taken volunteer training in the Settlement and Cultural Training program
for Volunteers, Refugee awareness, Strengthening Leadership in a diverse
community, etc. I have visited some memorable places for the indigenous people,
like Waskasu. This place was a metis people’s city. Then, they fought with the
new settlers, and the war destroyed their community.
I have met many indigenous people in Saskatchewan,
including Cree, Inuit, and Metis. Some were my colleagues, and some were my
son’s school friends. I found them very soft in heart, generous, and helpful.
I wanted to work as a community worker on newcomers or
climate issues, so I took a program to study called “Community Worker.” To work in a
community, I must learn about different neighbourhoods and Indigenous people and
work with them to empower them and have a better community.

Biography 207: Paragon shoe
I have seen my parents like to do their shopping at Baitul Mokarram Shopping Center (Baituk Mokarram Market). The shopping center is attached to the National Mosque of Bangladesh, Baitul Mokarram. I found them a little expensive, though this is the best place for luggage, Muslim dresses, religious things (like jaynamaj, tasbeeh, etc.), and books.
One day, I asked my dad to buy me a pair of shoes (Ladies' sandals). I was probably a student in those days. My dad took me to Baitul Mokarram Masjeed Shopping Center. I was looking for sandals from one store to another. We went inside a store named Paragon. One shopkeeper was talking to a customer. He looked aged, tall, and very well dressed up, like the owner of a shop. I made a quick scan of the display sandals, then went outside. He stopped us and requested me to sit down and wait.
If any other shoe seller is requested, maybe I won't listen and go out, but this man has a good personality, like an experienced salesman. He said, I will bring something, and you will like it. He was very confident, that's why I sat down and waited for him to finish with the other customer.
Then he brought some sandals from inside for me. He got the perfect size. I knew myself. If the shoe doesn't look good on my feet, I won't buy it. So, I was kind of sitting with a challenge. The first one he bought was without a hill. I liked the hill. (Now I forget how to wear high-hill shoes; on those days, I wouldn't care how big the hill was because I knew how to manage those.) The next one was a black-coloured high-hill shoe. The design was very good and looked great on my feet. I had to admit, in my mind, this guy knew which shoe would look good on which foot.
It was a bit costly, but my dad paid for it. The shoe quality was excellent. I used it for years and wore it almost everywhere. Later, I went to the shopping mall and struggled to find that shop. But different shopkeepers or salesmen were there. I didn't like the way they approached me, and I didn't find that designed shoe on their display. So, I never went to that shop again.
In Canada, I had similar kind of experience with the "Running Shoes". They provided shoes which was perfect size for my feet with a good quality.

I deserve this.
I need a chef who will cook me 3 times healthy, fresh meals. I need a house cleaner to clean my house daily and do the laundry. I need a personal spa person. This person will take care of me, from exercising/massage to shaving, cleaning/facials/hair to taking make-up. I need a manager to manage all my communications, arrange my travels, and drive.
In the end, I need a two-bedroom tiny house with an internal pool or jacuzzi. A garage within the house (Not open or detached) and the entire house will be under central AC and heater. I also need a car that can run on both gas and electricity.
I need a job so that I can afford everything without any stress. Finally, I need good friends who can talk with me, be with me, travel with me, help me whenever I need it, stay with me in the hospital, etc.
I need a safe place to live and work with a good climate.
I only need this much to survive. I am not asking too much. I deserve this.

Let's learn to travel alone
I like to see places. I like travelling. Because of this hobby, I could never save money for other significant purposes. Like buying a house, a good car, better dresses, more furniture etc.
I like travelling so much that I never thought who is going with me, do they want me with them or not, do they like me? Etc. Anyone invited me to go anywhere where I had never been before, I used to say yes and join them.
I have changed a bit now. My patient level may be completed now. So, I have started measuring some issues. Like, do I know this group of people? Do they like me with them? Did I ask them to go with me before, and they said no 2/3 times? So, this time, I better make my own plan and not disturb them.
Maybe I don't know much about the place, will miss some items, or will be paying too much, etc. But I better learn to travel by myself. I better not wait for anyone to take me with them.

Put the priority tag on the to-do list.
When I have too many works to do, I put priority on those work. Or just make which is the first priority and which is the second. Rest whenever I get time. Then I go according to my priority list. It's flexible. If I feel my plan isn't working, I will change it.
I am writing this because today I am on a new plan. I hope it will help me to organize myself a bit. I changed it after one week of working with the previous method.
