Biography 295: Some memories at Barua Sir's home - G

When I first decided to dress up like a muslim girl, I first started covering my head with a long cloth (Chador). I was in grade 10. I started covering my head and continued studying at Barua Sir's math coaching.

Then I realized that my hair wouldn't stay in my covering, so to hold it in place, I started wearing a small cap first, then the main Orna (a Long cloth that comes with my dress).

Shyama, one of my class mate in the coaching once started saying, what is this, first cover your head now added more items to cover your hair. I just want to inform you guys that she is a muslim woman too. Though she doesn't cover her hair. Before anyone says anything else, Borua Sir said, "NOBODY WILL SAY ANYTHING TO HER. IT'S HER CHOICE." Just to let you know, Borua Sir wasn't a muslim man, he follows Buddhism. And I found him to be a great person and a great teacher. In that coaching, nobody said anything to me about my dress up.

Later, I asked my mom to make a Burqa (A long, loose garment covering the whole body from head to feet, worn in public by many Muslim women) for me. She ordered the tailor to make one for her and one for me. Yes, in my home, I started wearing a muslim dress first. Then my mom. Later, my sisters. And I never ask anybody to follow me.

Biography 294: Office time

When I was a kid, I saw my father go to the office very early in the morning, maybe at 7 am, and his office would close before 5 pm. So, he would have some time for his family in the afternoon.

Later, office hours changed.

I think this early morning office schedule is good. It allows people to start utilizing their time from the morning, making good use of sunlight. If they can return home early, they can then make time for other activities, such as a part-time job, running a business, taking care of family, enjoying leisure time with loved ones, going on small city tours with the family, helping children with their studies, and so on.

But they only had one day off per week. I believe everyone needs at least two days off each week—one to catch up on household chores or go out somewhere, and the other to relax.

Never lose your hope

When you know someone is going to frame you, you see how they set everything against you. No matter what you do, you might still face trouble or not get what you expected, but never lose hope. You never know how Allah can change everything in a moment. Don't let others change your attitude. Be yourself and keep doing good work. InshaAllah, you will live your life in peace and enjoy your moments happily ever after.

And for your own mental peace, forgive them. Allah might give you something better than revenge.

Be cautious about what you hear.

We know people talk. Generally, I don’t care about what negative things people say (Negative) about me or anyone else. Maybe, since I can’t make them stop, I just ignore them. I always try to follow my own rules. I try to judge whether I am doing the right thing or not, and then decide what to do. I never try to follow others. If anyone suggests I do something, I will always consider it. If I feel it is good, I will do it; if not, I will just ignore it. I never try to stop people who spread gossip about me. I just don’t feel I need to do anything about it. I don’t have time for that. I like to concentrate on my own work.

Personally, I don’t say anything negative about others. I expect others to do the same. I am a bit of a religious person. So I depend on Allah. I hope He will show me the path and help me in every step I take.

I have noticed that when someone shares negative comments about an unknown person as an introduction, it can give you a bad impression of them without you knowing anything about them. If you don’t get a chance to get to know them, this misunderstanding will continue. You might even pass this misconception along to others, too.

So, the reality is that you will always have opinions from others, and their views may influence your thoughts in ways you never considered. In that situation, it becomes challenging to make the right decision.

Be careful about what people say.

Biography 293: Some memories at Barua Sir's home - E

At Barua Sir's math coaching classes, we don't only study math; sometimes we discuss other simple topics, argue, or share opinions. It's not that we intentionally set up these kinds of sessions; it just happens organically. Sometimes, Sir has to stop us to save our coaching time.

One day we started talking about ediction. Not about drugs, but about eating Paan (Betel Quid) or cigarettes, which is a very common habit in Bangladesh. Well, we weren't talking about how other people are doing; we were talking about how our family members are doing.

I told them about my father. He had stopped talking to Paan several times, but he started again, saying he would have just one after dinner or lunch. Then it began increasing, with him having it at every meal. He used to say he didn't look good without Paan. We tried many times to stop him, but failed.

In the meantime, Mrs. Brua started talking from inside the house. She always listened to us, sometimes joining our conversations as if she were a member of our team. She was saying, "To whom are you saying this? Ask your teacher how many times he stopped taking tea!"

That was new information. No teacher talks about their bad habits. Sir smiled and said, "She was talking about his tea habit." I didn't know tea could be a bad habit. Sir said, "He drinks tea 30/40 times a day with milk and sugar."

Now we are surprised; is that even possible? Sir, he said, he is trying to reduce it. Again, Madam said, "He reduced it quite a few times, but then went back to full mode."

A grocery delivery by Uber Eats

Ordered some groceries from Uber Eats. I could see the driver's movement from the app. I noticed the delivery person sitting in their car near the grocery store for an extended period. After about 15 minutes, I asked him, "Did you start shopping?". He immediately replied, Yes.

Then I waited to see when he found my grocery items. No updates for a long time. I have waited about 45 minutes. I then sent a message: if you can't find any item, please ask an employee; they'll be happy to help.

The deliveryman didn't reply.

After investing more than an hour, he then found one item. I understood, today is patience testing day.

I ordered one pack of "Spring roll". The guy sent me a message, "Here all items are for summer, I don't find any Spring ones." I just typed, "Pick a vegetable roll package." Before sending it, he showed another brand's spring roll. I didn't want to spend any more hours on it, so I approved it.

Finally, I got my groceries after 2.5 hours. Which shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. I assume this person has never done shopping before, just started this new job.

I didn't complain. I don't want to make trouble for anyone's earnings. But Uber Eats said that since the delivery took a long time, they will give me $10 for my next order.

Biography 292: Some memories at Barua Sir's home - D

In our math coaching sessions, we often discuss many topics. One day, our external topic was how parents treat their daughters and sons. A girl is expected to learn and perform household duties from a very young age. On the other hand, boys don't work until they are old enough to go shopping by themselves; this duty might be once a week or sometimes just to bring something from the grocery store. Girls' chores are different, such as cooking, helping with cooking, doing the dishes, washing clothes, cleaning the house—including sweeping—and other tasks. These are not just single tasks; but they take time. So, when they are both students, girls have less time to study and find it difficult to concentrate. Meanwhile, boys only have one job each day—studying.

When we discussed this, I knew our teacher was a man. He might agree or remain silent in front of us, but in his real life, he would treat boys and girls in the same way, which parents do.

One day, we reached his house; Sir hadn't joined us yet. His maid was cleaning. She said, "Yesterday, Sir didn't take his dinner." We were surprised and asked why. She explained that his wife was giving an exam, so she wasn’t cooking anything. Sir had to go to his in-laws' house for dinner, but he arrived late and didn't go there. So, he didn’t have dinner. We were really surprised to hear that. In Bangladesh, it's quite rare for a husband to sacrifice for his wife by not letting her cook during her exam.

Standing up throughout the working hours

In Canada, most jobs require their employees to stand and work throughout their working hours. In many cases, this isn't necessary. A person can have a chair or stool, allowing them to stand or sit whenever they want. For example, a cashier doesn't need to stand all the time while working on their till; they could use a stool. It should be their choice whether they work standing up or sitting on the stool.

If you check the medical records, many employees suffer from tissue and bone damage because of this standing-up job, which is often unnecessary.

We should eliminate this culture of standing up when it's not needed.

Why would you choose Alberta to travel?

I'm introducing you to the travel experience in Alberta. I won't provide a travel guide, such as how to get there, where to stay, or detailed information. Instead, I'll show you why you should choose to visit Alberta.

Alberta is a western province of Canada. It is bordered by the provinces of British Columbia to the west and Saskatchewan to the east, the Northwest Territories to the north, and the U.S. state of Montana to the south. Alberta's capital is Edmonton.

We all know how young travellers are spending money all over the world on exotic travel spots. Now, I must inform you that Alberta also has many exotic places and festivals to attend. Let me give you some examples. We have so many travel destinations to visit. Like:

Banff: historic bathhouse in Banff National Park

Banff Upper Hot Springs are located in the town of Banff, in Alberta’s Banff National Park.

Jasper: train tour

And you can join the thrilling adventure, like:

Scuba Diving
Climbing Mountain

You should have good indoor excitement.

Jasper planetarium

Dinosaur museum

Everybody loves to have good accommodation and food, especially travellers.

Rocky Mountain Escape
Calgary chocolate is very famous

You can bring your kid to travel here, too. They take the eight-minute ride on the Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain Park.

Not only for travel places, you can visit Alberta for its festivals too.

Winter sports events

Canadian Finals Rodeo

Drumheller is in the heart of the Canadian Badlands in Southern Alberta. About 75 million years ago, this place was plain and the climate was tropical. And this was a home of dinosaurs. People find out about it when they are mining coal. When visiting this place, be sure to visit the museums and the coal mine, and also spend your time hiking.

Visit this place to see the dinosaur fossils in the Royal Tyrrell Museum.

In the city, you can also see the world’s biggest dinosaur, 86 feet high.

This place is also known for its coal mine. Here you can visit the mine and go under the earth.

Moreover, if you can spend your time hiking in the Badlands, it's a well-maintained trail in Horseshoe Canyon where you can see growing Hoodoos.

I hope I have encouraged you enough to travel to Alberta ;)

Biography 291: Some memories at Barua Sir's home - C

We girls attended school in the morning shift, so we used to go to math coaching in the afternoon. Generally, boys had school in the afternoon shift, so they would go to Borua Sir's home for math coaching either in the morning or evening.

One day, the mother of a student (who was Borua Sir's student) came to visit him. She said her son wanted to leave the school because he didn't want to attend the afternoon shift. He wanted to go to a school where he could study in the morning shift. We girls were surprised. I told her that the afternoon shift is the best because it leaves the whole morning free for studying or other activities. Why would anyone have a problem attending the afternoon class?

The woman said she didn't understand the situation very well. Sir asked her to call her son. The boy was waiting outside and didn't want to face the Sir. He entered with his mother. Sir held his hair and asked, "Why is your hair so long? Next time, before you come here, cut your hair." Then he asked the boy, "What's your problem?" but he couldn't say much.

Borua Sir told the mother that her son is just trying to skip studying, and advised him to focus on his studies rather than changing schools. I noticed that the boy was very scared of the sir. He also agreed to stay at the school. The mother said that her son always manipulates her because she's not educated enough. Sir said, "No worries. I will take care of him." I could clearly see the boy was frightened and ready to obey whatever Sir said.

Scoring Results – Interpretation

Section A: Burnout

Burnout (or depressive anxiety syndrome): Testifies to fatigue at the very idea of work, chronic fatigue, trouble sleeping, physical problems. For the MBI, as well as for most authors, “exhaustion would be the key component of the syndrome.” Unlike depression, the problems disappear outside work.

-          Total 17 or less: Low-level burnout

-          Total between 18-29: Moderate burnout

-          Total over 30: High-level burnout

Section B: Depersonalization

“Depersonalization” (or loss of empathy): Rather a “dehumanization in interpersonal relations. The notion of detachment is excessive, leading to cynicism with negative attitudes with regard to patients or colleagues, feeling of guilt, avoidance of social contacts and withdrawing into oneself. The professional blocks the empathy they can show to their patients and/or colleagues.

-          Total 5 or less: Low-level burnout

-          Total between 6-11: Moderate burnout

-          Total of 12 and greater: High-level burnout

Section C: Personal Achievement

The reduction of personal achievement: The individual assesses himself negatively, feels he is unable to move the situation forward. This component represents the demotivating effects of a difficult, repetitive situation leading to failure despite efforts. The person begins to doubt his genuine abilities to accomplish things. This aspect is a consequence of the first two.

-          Total 33 or less: High-level burnout

-          Total between 34 and 39: Moderate burnout

-          Total greater than 40: Low-level burnout

High scores in the first two sections and a low score in the last section may indicate burnout.
