ছোট মামা বাইসরি (বান্দর বনের নাইখংছড়ি উপজেলার একটা এলাকা) এর একটা রাবার বাগানের ম্যানেজার ছিলেন। সেই সূত্রে যাওয়া (ভুমিকাটা আর বড় না করি)। রামু (সম্ভবত:) থেকে জীপে উঠতে হবে। বেশ কয়েকটা পুরানো রং চটা জীপ দাড়িয়ে ছিল। মামা একটা জীপে টিকেট কাটলেন, মামী সহ আমাদের 3জনকে জীপের সামনে বসতে বললেন। ভাবলাম, এতো জায়গা থাকতে এরকম গাদাগাদি করে বসার মানেটা কি, যাই হোক তখনও বুঝিনি, আসলে আমি স্বর্গসুখে বসছি। একটুপর ড্রাইভার আসল, গাড়ি স্টার্ট নিলো। এবার শুরু হলো লোক ওঠার পালা। প্রথমে পিছনের সিট বা জায়গা ভরে গেল (দাড়িয়ে, বসে, বাঁকা হয়ে), এরপর ছাঁদ ভরলো, একমাছ ওয়ালা তার বিশাল টুকরি নিয়ে উঠেছিলো, এটা পরে বঝেছিলাম যখন মামীর গায়ে ঐ মাছের পানি গড়িয়ে পড়লো। এরপর গাড়ীর গা ঘেসে মানুষ ঝুলে পড়লো চারপাশটা পুরো ঢেকে গেল, এমনকি সামনে 2পাশের গাড়ীর দরজা (জানালাসহ) পুরোপুরি ঢেকে গেল। আমি ভাবলাম ওঠা শেষ হয়েছে, কিন্তু না, তখনোও আমার আশ্চর্য হবার অনেক বাকি ছিলো। এরপর জীপের সামনের অংশে জাতাজাতি করে লোক ভরে গেল। সবশেষে ব্যাপার হলো এই যে, কেউ দেখলে মনে করবে অনেকগুলো মানুষ একবারে জড়ো হয়ে কোনো চারকোনা কিছু তৈরি করেছে। আমি খুব ভালো ভাবে বোঝার চেষ্টা করলাম ড্রাইভার কিভাবে দেখছে, কারন জানালায় সামনে পাশে, সব জায়গায় শুধু মানুষ আর মানুষ। কিছুই দেখা যায়না। কিন্তু এর মধ্যেও ঐ লোক কিভাবে যেন আন্দাজ করে পাহাড়ি রাস্তায় নানা বাঁক পেরিয়ে, উঁচু নিচু রাস্তা পার হয়ে আমাদের গন্তব্যে নিয়ে গিয়েছিল।
My younger uncle (maternal) was working in Baisori (a small place at Nykhongchhori thana at Bandorban district) as a rubber plant manager. One day he took us to travel in that area. We had to start from Ramu (may be) by jeep. I saw few old jeeps were standing in a place. The condition of the jeeps was very poor even their body color can't be recognizable. My uncle cut tickets for us and asks us to sit at the front, beside the drivers sit. I really couldn't understand why 3 of us had to sit conjugated in that small place. But later I understood, actually we had got sit in a place like heaven, if we compare with other's sits.
Let me explain. When the driver came and start the jeep, first I saw the back of jeep totally filled with men (some got sit, some stands, some bent their body to adjust in a small space). Then people took place at the roof. A fisher man also took sit at the roof with his fish bucket; we got to know about it when some water from that bucket fall on my aunt's hand. Then people start standing by holding the jeep's body, so the jeep became cover with people including windows. Finally people took place at the front of the jeep. Now in this condition if anyone look at the jeep they will see some people get together and make something like square shape.
I was really worrying with the driving condition, how our driver is going to watch the road and will drive our jeep. I don't know how, he managed to ride this jeep in hilly, narrow, broken road in good speed and reach at the destination safely.
But one thing I must say... I really enjoyed the thrilling :)
