বন্ধু (Friend)

শুনেছি, ছোট বেলায় নাকি আমি খুব মিশুক ছিলাম, যে কারো সাথে বন্ধুত্ব করতে পারতাম। আমার তো মনে পড়ে না। বরং সব সময়ই আমার মনে হয়েছে সব জায়গাতেই সবাই কিভাবে কিভাবে যেন গ্রুপ করে ফেলে, আমি একা হয়ে যাই। কারো সাথে কথা বলতে বা মিশতে আমার কোন অসুবিধা হয়না। তা সে যে ধ্যান ধারনারই হোক না কেন। তাহলে যখন সবাই দল বানায়, আমি কোথায় থাকি?

এইচ এস সি পাস করার পর কলেজে কিছু বান্ধবি, (যারা একসাথে স্কুলেও পড়েছিল,) এক জায়গায় হলাম। কথায় কথায় বললাম, কিভাবে বান্ধবী বানাতে হয়? রপি বলল, এটা কোন ব্যাপার? একজনকে টার্গেট করবা, তারপর তার কাছে গিয়ে পিঠের উপর বিশাল এক থাবরা বসিয়ে দিয়ে বলবা, আরে দোস্ত! কি খবর? তারপর ঐ মেয়ে যেখানে যায়, সব সময় পিছে পিছে সেখানে যাবা। বাস বন্ধু হয়ে গেল। তারপর ও যাদের সাথে মিশবে, তোমারও তাদের সাথে মিশা হয়ে যাবে। হয়ে গেল দল।

আইডিয়া পছন্দ হলো। তবে একটু সেনসর করে পিঠে বাড়ি দেয়ার চিন্তাটা বাদ দিলাম। ইউনিভার্সিটিতে এভাবে আমি বন্ধুত্ব করার চেষ্টা করলাম। চেষ্টা সফল হলো। আমরা ৩ বান্ধবী সব সময় এক জায়গায় থাকতাম।

I have heard, I was very good in making friends. I could make friendship with anybody. Well, I can't remember that. What I found, everywhere all people soon make their own group and I left alone. I really don't have any problem to talk with anything about any subject. I don't create trouble about what they think. Then when they made their group why I became left out?

After passing HSC exam, some of my school classmates enrolled in the same college. One day we were talking together and I asked, how to make friends? Ropi replied, "It's not a big deal. First target one, then you should go to them and hit on their shoulder (Back side) and say, hey friend. then go with them wherever they go. Soon their friends will become your friends too." I liked this idea. Well, I had to make little sensor about hitting on someone.

In the University, I have applied this method and you know what, it worked. On those days, we 3 friends always use to stay together.

Everything is going well

Now a day we are in very low-income stage. If anyone hear about our income status, the first question comes in their mind is how are you surviving with this income? We also don't know how we are managing, but with the help of Allah... everything is going well, till now. We are trying to improve our life. Let's see how far we can go...

ঘুড়ির লাটাই ধরেছি (I had grip the kite’s reel)

যদি জিগ্যেস করেন, কখনও ঘুড়ি উড়িয়েছেন? তাহলে বলল, ঘুড়ি না উড়ালেও ঘুড়ির লাটাই ধরেছি।
৮ বছর বয়সে সোদি আরব থেকে ফিরেছি। চাচার বাসায় বেড়াতে গিয়ে দেখলাম চাচাত ভাই ঘুড়ি উড়াচ্ছে। আমাকে দেখে লাটাই দেখিয়ে বলল, এটা হাতে নিবে? ভাবলাম এ আর এমন কি। হাতে নিলাম, দেখে ঘুড়ি লাটাইয়ের উপর হালকা চাপ দিচ্ছে। তারপর বাতাসের টানে লাটাই ঘুরতে থাকল। এর মাঝে দেখি আকাশে মেঘ জমে গেছে। দু এক ফোটা পানি পড়ল গায়ে। অতএব লাটাই দিয়ে ঘুড়ি নামাতে হবে। চেষ্টা করলাম, কিন্তু লাটাই বিপরীত দিকে ঘুরল না। এদিকে বৃষ্টি না শুরু হয়ে যায়। ভাই নিজে হাত থেকে লাটাই নিয়ে কিভাবে যেন ঘুড়িয়ে ঘুড়িয়ে ঘুড়ি নামিয়ে ফেলল। ঐ প্রথম, ঐ শেষ। আর কখনও ঘুড়ি ওরানোর চেষ্টা করিনি..।
অনেক দিন পর বাসার ছাদে আম্মা আব্বা আমাদের নিয়ে ঘুড়ি ওড়াতে গেলেন। সম্ভবত: আমার ছোট ভাইয়ের সখ হয়েছিল ঘুড়ি ওরানোর। আমিও গেলাম। চুপচাপ ওদের কান্ডকারখানা দেখলাম। হাত লাগানোর সাহস হলোনা, আমি জানি আমার দৌড় কতদুর...

If you ask me, did you ever fly a kite? I will say no, but I had grip the kite’s reel once. When I was 8 years old, came from Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh. I went to visit my uncle’s house. I saw the roof my cousin brother is flying a kite. He asked me, will you like to hold the reel. I thought this can’t be a big deal, so I took it on my hand. Then I felt the wind is giving pressure on the kite and it automatically rolling the reel and getting away. By this time clouds started gathering on the sky, even some rain drops fall in our body. My brother said, roll back the kite. I tried, but failed. It was flying with wind pressure. Then my brother took the reel from my hand and roll back the kite (I don’t know how).

After a long time one day my dad and mom took us to the roof to fly the kite. I guess my younger brother wanted to fly a kite. I went with them too, but stayed alone at the corner of the roof and spend time by watching their work. I know, how good I am with flying kite, so never tried again…

তুষারে হাটতে গিয়ে (While walking on the snow)

তুষারে হাটার জন্য বুট জুতা কিনেছি। দেখতে অনেকটা বাংলাদেশের পুলিশের বুট জুতার মতো। প্রথম যখন পরলাম, মনে হলো এটা আমার পা না, আর কারো পা। বরফের উপর হাটতে গিয়ে দেখি পা পিছলে যাচ্ছে।  খুব সাবধানে ধীরে ধীরে হাটতে হাটতে (কয়েকবার পিছলে পরেও সামলে নিলাম) শাফিনের স্কুলে পৌছলাম। স্কুলে ঢোকার পথেই রাস্তায় হঠাত পিছলে পরে গেলাম। সাথে সাথে উঠেও গেলাম, ব্যাথা পাইনি। শুধু গ্লাফ্স এ হালকা বরফ লেগেছিলো।

ফেরার পথে ছেলে হঠাত ফুটপাতে পরে গেল (মায়ের মতই হয়েছে), যদিও আমি কিঞ্চিত রেগে বললাম সাবধানে হাটতে পারোনা। এরপর কোন ধরনের বরফে পিছলে পরার সম্ভবনা বেশি, কোন জায়গায় হাটলে পরার ভয় কম ইত্যাদি নানা গবেষনা করতে করতে মা ছেলে বাড়ির পথে হাটতে থাকলাম।

বেশি পিচ্ছিল জায়গায় দুজনে হাত ধরে ভারসাম্য রাখার চেষ্টা করছিলাম। ছেলে বলল, আমি পরে গেলে তুমি আমাকে ধরে তুলতে পারবে, কিন্তু তুমি পরে গেলে আমি তো আর আটকাতে পারবোনা, উল্টো নিজেই পরে যাব। আমি বললাম, তুমিও পরার সময় আমাকে ফেলে দিতে পারো, কিছুই বলা যায়না। ছেলে আপাতত: চুপ করলো।

To walk on snow I have bought a pair of boot. It looks like the traffic police boot in Bangladesh. Anyway when I first try it on my feet, I felt these are not my feet, someone else. First walk in the snow with these boot. Road or footpath was sleeper. I was walking very carefully. My feet sleep sometimes but I manage to stand. When I reached at the school suddenly I slept and fall on the earth. Immediately I woke up again and didn't get hurt. My gloves were full with snow.

When I was returning from the school with my son, suddenly my son fall in ice (Like mother like son). Though I told my son to walk carefully. Whole way mother son was discussing which snow is sleepier than others, where we should walk more careful etc.

While crossing the road, we hold each other’s hand for safety. Then my son said, if I fall, you may hold me up but what happen if you fall? I won't be able to hold you. I said, same thing can happen with me too, you might fall and as you are holding my hand I might fall too. So, he stop talking about it.

রাগ, বিয়ের পর (Anger, after marry)

আমি কমলাপুর উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ে পড়েছি ক্লাস ২ থেকে ৪ পর্যন্ত। 

প্রথম যখন ভর্তি হলাম, একজন স্যারের কথা সবার মুখে মুখে শুনতাম। আলমগীর স্যার। সবাই ওনাকে খুবই পছন্দ করত আর জমের মতোন ভয় পেত। ক্লাসের ছেলেরা ছিল মহা দুষ্ট। এদের হইচই থামানো যে কোন স্যারের পক্ষে কঠিন ছিল। কিন্তু যদি শুনত আলমগীর স্যার পাশের ক্লাসে আছেন, তাহলে সবাই চুপ। আর কারো কোন কথা নেই।

একদিন শুনলাম স্যারের বিয়ে। অন্য স্যারদের মধ্যে চাপা উত্তজনা। বিয়ের পর ছুটি কাটিয়ে স্যার স্কুলে এলেন। খুবই হাসি খুশি মুখ। এরপর দেখলাম, এখন আর আগের মতোন উনি রাগেন না। ছাত্রদের মারধরও খুব একটা করেন না। ধীরে ধীরে খুব শান্ত হয়ে গেলেন। আর ছাত্রদের ওনার প্রতি ভয় কমে গেল।

কবে যেন শুনলাম, কার যেন মেজাজ কমানোর জন্য ওনার সহকর্মীরা মেয়ে দেখছেন। বিয়ে দিয়ে দিবেন বলে। আমার হঠাৎ এই স্যারের কথা মনে পড়ল... আসলেই এই মহা ঔষধ কারো কারো ক্ষেত্রে কাজ করে... 

[১৭ ই জানুয়ারি, ২০০৮]

I have studied in Kamalapur High School from class 2 to 4. When I first enrolled there, I heard about a teacher, Mr. Alamgir. He was a very angry man. Students liked him and also scared of him very much. As usual boys were very naughty who made noises in the class. All teachers felt trouble to manage them. But if they heard that Alamgir sir are taking class just beside their class, the class become pin drop silent.

One day we get to know that Mr. Alamgir is getting married. All teachers were very excited. Then he returned from his marriage vacation. We saw he became very happy and came with a smiley face. Later we also found that he doesn't get angry like before and don't like to hit any boys. Day by day he became nicer person. Boys stop fearing also.

Recently I heard some colleagues are thinking to give marry another colleague to reduce his anger... so my memory brought this to my mind. Well I have seen this marriage therapy really works on some guys :)

Beauty and trouble

প্রথম বরফ পড়তে দেখলাম। কি সুন্দর! কি সুন্দর! ঠান্ডা কত কষ্টের, কি কষ্টের বিনিময়ে এই সৌন্দর্য! আগুন ও এমনি, কাছে যাওয়া যায়না, অথচ কি সুন্দর!

For the first time I am watching snowing. What a beauty! Cold weather is very painful. You can only feel this beauty with pain. Just like fire. You can't go near but will like to watch it's beauty...

উত্তেজনায় (In excitment)

বাসায় বিশ্বকাপ ফুটবল খেলার সময় খালাত ভাইদের দেখতাম, উত্তজনায় দাড়িয়ে পড়ত। তারপর গোল না হলে হতাশ হয়ে বসে পড়ত, অথবা গোল হলে দেখতাম লাফালাফি করতো। 
হইচই খাওয়া-দাওয়া কত মজা করা। চারপাশে তখন বিশ্বকাপ আমেজ। নিজের সাপোর্টের দল (আর্জেন্টিনা) কি করল সেটা নিয়ে টেনশন..। 
আমার আম্মা বলতেন, উনি খেলা দেখেন না, দেখেন আমাদের উত্তজনা.. 

কিছুদিন আগে জীবনে প্রথম ক্রিকেট খেললাম, আমি কখনও ব্যাট হাতে নিয়েও দেখিনি। কিন্তু দিদার ভাই জোর করে দার করিয়ে দিলেন। খেললাম না বলে বলা উচিত খেলার চেষ্টা করলাম। সে অন্য রকম উত্তেজনা। খুব ভাল লেগেছিল। সম্ভবত: আমি সেদিন ২২ রান করেছিলাম (রানার নিয়ে) :)

I have seen at home, while World Cup Football match, my cousins use to stand up from the sofa when excited moments comes. If their team couldn't give a goal, then sat down with sad faces or if their team could give goal, they started jumping.

With this excitement we use to keep busy with good food. Everywhere we could see the excitement of World Cup. I had to make tension for my favorite team (Argentina), what they will do in the game?

My mom use to say, she didn't watch the game, she watched us, our reactions (Must be very funny).

Few days back, for the first time in life I took bat in my hand to play. Actually I didn't wanted by Didar bro somehow convinced me to play the game. I tried and made good runs (22). I really enjoyed that day...

Give enough info when you talk

আমরা যখন কথা বলি, আমাদের সব সময়ই স্পস্ট করে বলা উচিত এবং যতটুকু তথ্য জানানো দরকার সেটা পুরোপুরি বলতে হবে, বিশেষ করে আপনি যখন অফিসে কাজ করেন। এই তথ্য আদান প্রদান দুপক্ষকেই পরিস্কার করে করতে হবে। না হলে ভুল বোঝাবুঝি, অহেতুক খাটাখাটনি হবে।

যেমন কেউ আপনার সাথে কথা বলতে এসেছে কিন্তু আপনি খুব ব্যস্ত, তাই তাকে বললেন, পরে আসুন। এখন সে কত পরে আসবে, কিভাবে জানবে যে আপনার ব্যস্ততা কতক্ষনে শেষ হবে? একঘন্টা , দুই ঘন্টা নাকি ১ দিন পর বা ৭ দিন পর। পরিস্কার করে বলুন, "আমি একটু ব্যস্ত আছি, আপনি লাঞ্চের পর আসুন" তাহলে দুজনে জানবেন ওই ব্যক্তিকে আপনি কখন সময় দিচ্ছেন। এবং আপনি ওই সময় অন্য কোনো কাজ রাখবেন  না।

When we talk, we have say it clearly and give all info that is needed. This communication is very important especially in offices for both employee and employer. Then it will reduce misunderstand and extra work in many ways.

Like, someone came to you to talk about something, but you were too busy to talk with them, so you said, "Please come later". When they should come? After one hour, 2 hours or 1 day or 7 days? So, you better say, "I am very busy now, so please contact me after lunch". Now both of you know, when this conversation is going held and you won’t keep any other work on that time.

গান চর্চা (Practice singing)

কে বলে বাংগালী অলস, সংগীত চর্চা করে না। আমি কিছুতেই এটা মানবো না। আপনি যদি মেয়ে হন তাহলে নিজেই পরীক্ষা করে দেখতে পারেন।
ধরুন খুব ভোরে উঠেছেন, সুন্দর একটা রাস্তা, দুপাশে বাড়ি আর বড় বড় গাছের সারি। পাখির হালকা কলতান শোনা যাচ্ছে। আপনার মন ভালো হয়ে যাবে। হালকা পায়ে আসতে আসতে হাটতে থাকুন। এবার কিছুদুর পর পর মানুষের গানের কলি শুনতে পাবেন। আপনার মন ভালো করতে না নিজের প্রতিভা বিকাশ করতে না আর কোন কারনে সেটা বলতে পারবোনা, তবে গান আপনাকে অবশ্যই শোনানো হবে। হিন্দি, বাংলা যে কোন ধরনের হতে পারে, আপনার দর্শন হওয়া মাত্র সুরের লহরী জেগে উঠবে। যাই হোক, এভাবে রোজ যদি সংগীত চর্চায় সাহায্য করেন তাহলে অদূর ভবিষ্যতে দেশে আরো বেশ কিছু ভাল শিল্পি পাবার সম্ভাবনা আছে।

Who says Bangladeshi people are lazy, don't practice singing? I won't agree at all. If you are a girl you can check it by yourself.

Like, you woke up early in the morning, then go out for a walk, on a beautiful road, you will see houses and trees beside the road. You might heard sweet tone of birds too. Your mind will feel refresh. Please keep walking. Then you will hear human noise (Some will start singing after watching you, no matter how bad their singing is). I don't why they do this to impress you or to show their talent, they will sing Hindi, Bangla or mixed song. Anyway may only for girls if they keep practicing their singing skill so there won't be left anyone but singer.

In transaction mod

Started new life, in new country, new home, new job, new food, new weather... sometimes I think how I am doing this? Actually I am passing through where I don't know what's in the end. So, feeling excited to pass through it. Sometimes became dishearten, again make up myself depend blindly on Allah. Let's see what’s coming next.

I really surprise with Shafeen's ability. He is fighting to adjust himself in this country. New classmates, don't have good idea in language, new problems in school, new lessons, alone at home. He is facing much more trouble than me. But without any complain he is adjusting with everything. I am try to be with him (Mentally) as much as possible. Trying to help him (By giving idea) to solve his problems...

He is in big transaction mod. I hope everything will became easy and smooth with us.

টবে বাগান (Garden in a pot)

ছোট বেলায় কেউ যখন জিগ্যেস করতো, আপনার হবি কি? একটু বিপদে পড়তাম, কারন আমি ভেবে পেতাম না কি আমার হবি। আমি যাই করি হয় বাবা-মা, না হয় স্কুল, না হয়ে বন্ধুরা ঠিক করে দিত, যেমন পড়া, খেলা, শয়তানি..। তাহলে আমার হবি কি? একজন সাহায্য করার জন্য বলল, এই যেমন ডাক টিকেট জমানো, বাগান করা, সেলাই করা ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি। এবার আমি কিছু একটা বলার মতোন পেলাম।

আমার আম্মার সখ হলো বাগান করা। উনি টবে এতো গাছ লাগিয়েছেন যে বারান্দায় আর হাটা যায় না। নানা জাতের গাছ এলোমেলো ভাবে রাখা (এলোমেলো কথাটা আম্মা মানেন না)। একেবারে সুন্দরবন এর মতো গিঞ্জি গাছপালা। ভিতরে ঢুকতে গেলে কাটায় জামা ছিড়ে যেতে পারে। আমাকেও একটা গাছ কিনে দিয়েছিলেন। এক ধরনের ক্যাকটাস। আমি পানি দিতাম, মাটি খুড়ে দিতাম, সার দিতাম। সুতরাং হবি বলতে বাগান করা বলা যায় (হোক না একটা গাছ নিয়ে)। রচনাতেও তাই লিখতাম (গাছের সংখ্যা না বলে)।

In my childhood, when anyone asked me, what's your hobby? I really became confuse, what to answer? Because I whatever I did on those days, either suggestion came from my parents or school or friends, like study, game or naughtiness. Then what is my hobby? Someone helped me out from this situation; they told me I can say from collecting stamps, gardening, swing etc. Now I found something to mention. Let me explain...

My mom's hobby is gardening. She uses to put plants on flower pot. But the amounts of pots were huge, so that we couldn't walk on the garden easily (Though she never agreed). It's dense like our Sundarban. If you want to get inside your dress may tear with the needle of the plants.

My mom gave me a plant too, kind of cactus. I use to take care of it very gently. I gave water, dig its mud, and gave fertilizer to make it have good health. So, from now on I can say, my hobby is gardening (Well with one plant only). Even I use to write about it in my essays at school.

সব কাজ গোছানো দরকার (Need to schedule all work)

আমি নিশ্চিত যে আমি কাজ বাড়িয়ে করি। এই কারনে যে কোনো কাজে আমি সময় বেশি নেই, অনেক গুছিয়ে যথাযথভাবে করার সর্বোচ্চ চেষ্টা করি। এতে কাজ খুব ভালভাবে শেষ হয়, তবে অন্য দরকারী কাজের সময় নস্ট হয়। সবচেয়ে ক্ষতি হয় নিজের, আমি আমার নিজের জন্য আর সময় বের করতে পারিনা। 

আমাকে আসলে দেখতে হবে কি কি কাজ অবশ্যই শেষ করতে হবে সেটা আগে শেষ করা, আর যা প্রতিদিন না করলেও চলবে, সেগুলোর জন্য সাপ্তাহিক সময় বের করা। 

কিছু কাজ মাসে একবার আর কিছু বছরে একবারের জন্য ঠিক করা।

বিশ্রামের সময় অবশ্যই বিশ্রাম নেয়া। নিজের যত্নের জন্য, দৈনিক এবং সাপ্তাহিক, পারলে মাসিক সময় রাখতে হবে। 

তারপরও অতি দরকারী কাজ তো চলে আসেই, বা অন্যকে সময় দিতে গিয়ে সব রুটিন ওলটপালট হতেই পারে। সেটা মেনে আবার নিয়মিত কাজে লেগে যাওয়া। 

আর সবচেয়ে বড় জরুরী, নিজেকে দুঃশ্চিন্তা থেকে দুরে রাখা।

I am sure I work more than it's needed. That's why I took more time than others; I make it happen with best possible ways. It makes that work better, but it also looses other work time. Mostly I suffer, because of this attitude I can't make time for myself.

Actually I have to find, what are they must do work, which I have to do every day. Then schedule my other work on weekly, monthly and yearly basis.

I have to take proper rest no matter how busy I am. I need make plan to take care of my own body and mind daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.

But still there will always some urgent work and have to give time to others... which may mess up with my work routine. It's OK, I need to take these easy and again have to start according to my plan.

And mostly I have to keep away from tension.

লেবুর সরবত (Lemon juice)

[৩১ শে ডিসেম্বর, ২০০৭]

আমার খুব সহজে মাথায় ঠান্ডা লাগে, একদম জ্যাম হয়ে যায়। একারনে ভিটামিন সি এর উৎস খুজে বের করেছি। লেবু। রোজ এক গ্লাস লেবুর সরবত খাওয়ার চেষ্টা করি। অফিসে লেবু কিনে রেখেছি। এটা আমার জন্য খুবই উপকারি প্রমানীত হয়েছে। আমি দেখেছি। লেবুর সরবত না খেলে আমার ঠান্ডা লাগে। আবার ঠান্ডা লাগলে নিয়মিত সরবত খেলে সেরে যায়। বাসায় - অফিসে আমার চারপাশে অনেকেরই সর্দি কাশি হয়েছে। আমি এখনও সুস্থ আছি (আল্লাহ এর রহমতে)। দেখা যাক কতদিন থাকতে পারি। 

আমি শুধু লেবুর রস খেতে পারিনা, চিনি দিয়ে খাই, মধু থাকলে মধু দিয়েও খেয়েছি। প্রথমে চিনি পানির সাথে ভালো ভাবে মিশিয়ে নেই এরপর লেবু কেটে এতে রস দেই। যাতে খাবার আগে ভিটামিন সি নস্ট না হয়, এ কারনে চিনি গুলিয়ে তারপর লেবুর রস দেই। তারপর হালকা ভাবে নেড়ে খেয়ে নেই। শুধু যে ভালো থাকার জন্য খাই তা নয়, লেবুর সরবত খেতে আমার খুবই ভালো লাগে। আরিল কে একবার বানিয়ে দিয়েছিলাম (ঠান্ডা লেগেছিল তাই), কিন্তু আমি চিনি বেশি দেই বলে হয়তো খেতে পারেনি। 

কিন্তু আমি দেখেছি, বেশি চিনি আর বেশি লেবুর রস দিলে খেতে বেশি মজা হয়। সাথে একটু বিট লবন দিয়ে হয় অসাধারন। কলকাতার রাস্তায় এভাবেই বানায়।

I get cold on head very easily; it makes my head very heavy. So, I found a very good source of Vitamin C. That is Lemon. So, I try to take a glass of lemon juice every day. I had brought lemon at office. It's a proved remedy for me. I have seen if I don't take lemon juice I get cold. Even if I get cold, I started taking lemon juice and its cure me. Now a day at home and office many people get cold, but I (Thanks to Allah). Let's see how long I can stay away from getting cold.

I can't take only lemon juice. That's why I put sugar, sometimes honey. First I give some sugar in the water and mix it well. Then cut the lemon and give its juice into that water. I give lemon juice later to preserve the Vitamin C. It’s not like that I need it that's why I take it; I like lemon juice very much so I take it with pleasure. Once I made for Arild (As he got cold) too, but as I give sugar, he might not feel comfort with it.

But I have seen if you give much sugar and lemon juice, its make tastier. If you can give a bit of black salt, it became awesome. In Kolkata, you will find lemon juice like this.

রাগারাগি করছি ছেলের সাথে (Showing anger with my son)

ছেলে যখন নিজের বুদ্ধিতে নতুন কিছু করে, মা হিসাবে খুশি হবার কথা... কিন্তু হতে পারছিনা।  বরং রাগারাগি করছি ছেলের সাথে। আগে ক্ষুধা লাগলে আমাকে সব কাজ ফেলে বা ঘুম বাদ দিয়ে ওর খাবার তৈরী করতে হতো। এখন আমাকে শুয়ে থাকতে দেখলে নিজেই বুদ্ধি করে খাবার বের করে ফেলে। আজ ফ্রিজ ঘেটে জুস বের করেছে।  এরপর সেই জুস খুলে খেতে গিয়ে কিছু মেঝেতে ফেলেছে, কিছু জামায়, কিছু গায়ে। ফ্রিজ বন্ধ করতে পারেনি ঠিক মতো। দরজা খোলা ছিল। অবস্থা দেখে বিশ্রাম নেয়া মাথায় উঠল।...

I should be happy to see my son working by himself or trying to do something of his own. But I couldn't. I became very angry and shouted with him. Let me give you an example. One day he saw me lying down on bed. So, he didn't ask me for food, he searched in the refrigeration and found a packet of juice. But while he trying to open it he fall some on the floor, some on his dress and body. Even he couldn't shut the refrigerator well. Now tell me, after watching this, how could I take any more rest?

নামের শুরুতে এস (শ, স) (Names which started with “S”)

আপনি যখন মোবাইলে নাম খোঁজেন বা টেলিফোন বুক এ নতুন নম্বর তুলেন, খেয়াল করেছেন কি, কোন অক্ষরের নাম সবচেয়ে বেশি আছে?

When you search anyone’s name on phone book or in a telephone book, did you noticed which letter’s name is coming most? 

আগে যখন মোবাইল ফোন ছিলনা তখন একটা ছোট টেলিফোন ডিরেক্টরি সবসময় কাছে রাখতাম। আর সে খানে এস অক্ষরের পৃষ্ঠায় সব সময়ই ঢাসাঢাসি করে জায়গা করতে হতো অনেকের নাম। 

When I didn’t have the cell phone, I use to keep a small telephone diary with me always. And on that book I have always has to face trouble to keep names in “S” page to hold lots of name in one page.

আমার বাবা-মার নাম কাকতালীয় ভাবে "এস" দিয়ে শুরু। তারা এই ধারা বজায় রেখে সব ছেলে মেয়ের নাম "এস" দিয়ে রেখেছেন। 

After married my parent found that their name started with same letter “S”. To keep this going they kept their kid’s name started with “S”.

যখন একটা নরওয়েজিয়ান কোম্পনিতে কাজ করেছি। বাংলাদেশ থেকে নরওয়েতে নামের লিস্ট পাঠানো হয়েছিল,  কারা কাজ করছেন তাদের বাংলাদেশ শাখায় এটা জানানোর জন্য। ওরা বেশ অবাক হয়ে জানতে চেয়েছিল, আমরা কি "এস" দিয়ে নাম আছে কিনা দেখে লোক নিয়েছি? বিষয়টা আমরা নিজেরাও আগে খেয়াল করিনি।

When I was in a Norwegian company we had to send all employees’ name who is working in Bangladesh branch. And they replied did we take only those persons whose name started with “S”. Actually even we didn’t notice this similarity…

পরবর্তিতে আমি আমার ছেলের নাম রেখেছি "এস" দিয়ে আর আমার ছোট বোনও তাই করছে, ওর দুই ছেলের নামের শুরুটা "এস" দিয়ে :)

Later I kept my son’s name started with the letter “S” and my younger sister also following the trends. She kept her two son’s name with “S”.

কাজ আর বৃষ্টি (Work and rain)

বৃষ্টি আমি পছন্দ করি, তাই বৃষ্টি পড়লে বাইরে বের হওয়া যাবেনা বা কাজ আটকে থাকবে এমন কখনও ভাবিনি। এখন তাও ভাবতে হচ্ছে। কারন বৃষ্টিতে রাস্তায় পানি জমে যাচ্ছে, কোনো মতে ঘরের দরজা থেকে রিক্সায় উঠেও যদি কাজ চালানো যেত তাহলেও হতো, কিন্তু কখনো কখনো পানি ঘরের ভিতরে ঢুকে যাচ্ছে। তাও যদি কোনো মতে বের  হই তো রাস্তায় জ্যামে আটকে থাকতে হবে, আর কাজ শেষে কোনো কিছু পাওয়া যাবেনা ঘরের ফিরার জন্য। ঘন্টার পর ঘন্টা এক জায়গায় দাড়িয়ে চেষ্টা করে নিজে পানিতে নেমে যাবেন, সাতার কাটতে কাটতে এগুতে থাকবেন আরো ঘন্টা খানেক। কপাল ভাল থাকলে এরপর কেউ কয়েকগুন বেশি ভাড়ায় বড় রাস্তা পর্যন্ত এগিয়ে হয়তো রাজি হয়ে যাবে। এমন বৃষ্টির দিনে কোনো কাজ শেষ হবে না।  আর এদিকে সময়ের অভাবে আপনি ঘরে বসে থাকতেও পারবেন না। অফিস সময় শেষ হওয়া পর্যন্ত চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাবেন। এরপর পরের দিন আবার বের হবেন। 

I like rain, so I never complained about it, that it's raining I can't go out etc. But now things really get changed. Because of rain, all roads are getting drowned. If I could manage by taking rickshaw from the gate I could manage things somehow, but water comes inside our home too. If anyhow, you go out then will fall in trouble after finishing your work. You have to wait for hours to find anything to return home. Then you will start walking on the water (Mixed with all drain water) for hours, if you have some luck you will then find something with double cost which may take to the main road. More problems rise because of traffic jam you may not able to complete your work, you have to try till office hour finishes then again next day you have to start again.

মন্দিরের শহর (City of temple)

সাড়া বিশ্ব তো দেখিনি, তারপরও মনে হয়েছে, ঢাকাকে যদি মসজিদের শহর বলা হয় তো কাঠমান্ডুকে (নেপালের রাজধানী) বলা উচিত মন্দিরের শহর। এমন কোন জায়গা নেই যেখানে মন্দির নেই। রাস্তার পাশে কয়েক কদম গেলেই একটা মন্দির পাওয়া যায়। কোন কোনটা এতো ছোট যে তুলসি বেদীর মতোন ছোট জায়গা নিয়ে রাস্তার কোন কোনায় দাড়িয়ে আছে। কোথাও বা বড় কোন গাছ বা গুহার মাঝে মন্দির। কোথাও বুদ্ধদেব, কোথাও শাপ এমনই সব মন্দির।

তবে মন্দিরের ঘন্টার শব্দে ঘুম ভেংগে ছিল ভুটানের কাছে ভারতের এক শহরে (নাম মনে নেই)। পরে দেখছিলাম, সেটা ছিল রাস্তার পাশে বেশ বড় মন্দির।

I didn't see t he world, but I still believe, if we say Dhaka is the city of Mosque then we should call Kathmandu (The capital of Nepal) as the city of temple. You won't find a place without a temple over here. If you just take few steps in the town you will find a temple here. Some are too small that it looks like a Tulsi stand at the corner of the road. Some temples are inside a big tree, some are inside the cave. You will see these temples are for Buddhist statue, snake etc.

First I woke up by hearing the bell of a temple in India, near Bhutan's border. (I forget the name of the town) Later I found a big temple beside the main road.

যা পাবোনা, তা হয়তো পরে কখনো পাবো (Whatever I didn't get, may get later)

চিন্তায় চিন্তায় মাথা ধরিয়ে ফেলছি। তাই ঠিক করেছি, আগে নিজেকে ভাল রাখবো। তারপর যা হবার হবে। আল্লাহ ভরসা। 

আমি আমার সাধ্যমতো চেষ্টা করে যাই, দেখা যাক কতদুর কি করতে পারি। যতদুর সাফল্য পাবো, তা নিয়ে থাকবো। যা পাবোনা, তা হয়তো পরে কখনো পাবো... দেখা  যাক আল্লাহ আমার  জীবনে আর কি কি রেখেছেন....

Because of tension, I am having headache. So, I made myself to decide first, I have to keep myself well. Then will accept what so ever happen. Let's depend on Allah.

I will try my best to make things right. Then will take everything easy, will try to be happy whatever I achieve, rest may come later in my life. Let's see what else Allah makes me see in my life.

মাথায় বেঁধে ভারী ঝোলা (Heavy basket tide up with the head)

আমাদের দেশে ভারী বোঝা নেয়ার সময় মানুষকে পিঠ ব্যবহার করতে দেখি। দার্জিলিংয়ে (পরে নেপালের পাহাড়ি অঞ্চলের ছবিতেও দেখেছি) দেখলাম, হালকা পাতলা মানুষ, মাথার সাথে ঝুলিয়ে কাপড় দিয়ে ঝোলা বানিয়ে ভারি ভারি বোঝা অবলিলায় পাহাড় বেয়ে উঠে যাচ্ছে। হয়ত পাহাড়ি এলাকায় এমনই নিয়ম। কিন্তু যখন দেখলাম ২টা গ্যাস সিলিন্ডার অবলিলায় মাথার সাথে ঝুলিয়ে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে তখন ওদের ঘার কত শক্ত সেটা নিয়ে না ভেবে পারলাম না।

এমনকি জলপাইগুড়ির চা বাগানের মেয়েদেরও দেখলাম, মাথার সাথে কাপড় ঝুলিয়ে ঝোলা বানিয়ে তাতে চা পাথা রাখছে। আমাদের দেশে দেখেছি পিঠের সাথে ঝুড়ি বেধে চা পাতা রাখছে।

In our country we saw people take heavy things on back. But in Darjeeling (Later in the pictures of Nepal) I saw even thin people are taking heavy things by using their head. They made a bag with a long cloth and tie that with the head. Then put all heavy things in it. Then they easily walk up the mountain with that heavy basket. I thought this must be the traditional way of this hilly area. I really shocked, when I saw two big gas cylinders were carrying by a person in this way, how hard their shoulder is!!

I have seen same method in Jalpaiguri tea garden, though in Bangladesh people uses their back to hold the basket of tea leaf.

দেশের ফ্লাই ওভারগুলি খুব দ্রুত শেষ করা উচিত

যানজটে ঢাকা শহর এক রকম স্থবির হয়ে আছে। নতুন নতুন নানা পরিকল্পনা হচ্ছে শহরের এই যানজট নিরসনের জন্য। আমার মতে নতুন পরিকল্পনা কাজে লাগানোর পাশাপাশি যে প্রকল্প হাতে নেয়া হয়েছে, সেটা দ্রুত শেষ হবার জন্য বেশি তোড়জোড় করা উচিত। শুধু মাত্র ফ্লাই ওভার তৈরী করতে গিয়ে রাস্তার অর্ধেকের বেশি বন্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছে। তাই দেশের ফ্লাই ওভারগুলি খুব দ্রুত শেষ করা উচিত।

বালতীতে করে ডাল (Lentil served in a bucket)

নেপালের বর্ডারের শহর কাকরভিটা থেকে পোখরা প্রায় ১৬ ঘন্টার পথ, বাসে। চলার পথে বিভিন্ন সময়ে বিভিন্ন হাইওয়ে রেস্টুরেন্টে আমাদের খাওয়ানো হয়েছিল। বললাম হাইওয়ে রেস্টুরেন্ট, কিন্তু আসল চেহারা একটু অন্যরকম।

মতিঝিলের বিভিন্ন বড় বড় বিল্ডিংয়ের ফাকে যে রকম ঝুপড়ির মতো খাওয়ার জায়গা থাকে, অনেকটা সে রকম। 

একজায়গায় দুপুরে খেতে গেলাম, মানে আমাদের বাস যেখানে থামালো খাবার জন্য। আমাদের আগে কয়েক দল বাস যাত্রী খেয়ে গেছেন। বহু কষ্টে একটু পরিস্কার জায়গা খুজে বের করলাম, যেখানে বসলে অন্তত: জামায় ঝোল লাগার ভয় কম। খাবার দেখে অনেকেই ঠিক করলো, খাবে না। আমাদের প্যাকেজের লোকদের হাকডাকে রেস্ট্যুরেন্টের কর্মচারীরা ছুটাছুটি শুরু করলো। একজন বয়স্ক মহিলা মাঝারী আকারের বালতীতে ডাল নিয়ে টেবিলে টেবিলে ঘুরতে লাগলেন কার লাগবে। যার লাগে টিনের মগে করে দিতে লাগলেন (স্থানীয়রাও ছিল)। বালতির চেহারা বাথরুমের বালতির চেহারার চেয়ে খুব একটা ভাল মনে হলো না। আর ডাল দেয়ার সময় ডালে তার হাতও ডুবে যাচ্ছিলো। এটা দেখে আরও কিছু লোক খাওয়া বন্ধ করে দিল।

পরে ভুটান বর্ডারের কাছে ভারতের খশবু রেস্টুরেন্টে এর উন্নত ভারসন দেখেছিলাম। ওখানকার খাবার বেশ ভাল এবং পরিস্কার। আমাদের দেশে "কড়াই গোশত" রেস্টুরেন্টে যেমন ছোট্ট কড়াইতে গোশত দেয়, তেমনি এরা ছোট তামার বালতিতে করে ডাল দিল। দেখতে খুবই সুন্দর। বলা বাহূল্য সবাই খুবই মজা করে খেল।

আমার মনে হলো, এটাই কি এই এলাকার রীতি? বালতিতে ডাল পরিবেশন করা? রান্নাও কি বালতিতে করে?

From Kakarvitta (Nepal's town at Nepal-India border) to Pokhara we made 16 hours bus journey. During this time our bus stood on several highway restaurants. Well I am naming them highway restaurant, but their structural and food was very poor. Those restaurants looked like our restaurants which are situated between big buildings in Motijhil.

Let me give you an example, at noon our bus stopped in a restaurant for lunch. Several groups of bus people were already taken food there. It was really difficult to find a place where we might have less dirt on table. By watching the situation few of our group people decided not to take anything in lunch. As our tour guide started asking for serving food the restaurant people started moving and serving food. One old lady brought a bucket (Not clean) as we use in our bathroom, made of tin and that was full with lentil. She took a mug (Made of tin) to serve lentil from that bucket to the plates. When she was taking lentil from that bucket her wrist was also get dip into the lentil. By watching this part, some of us stopped taking food.

Later at Bhutan border, in India we take food at Khusboo Restaurant. The food was clean and delicious. There they give us lentil on a cute little copper bucket. In the way we get meat in a pan at "Korai goshto". Everybody enjoyed that lentil.

I thought, actually this bucket lentil is in their culture... Do they cook lentil in bucket too?

মশা আসে শুধু আমার ছেলের জন্য? (Mosquito only comes for my son?)

বাসায় মশা নিয়ে বিশাল ঝামেলায় আছি, আর এই ঝামেলা শুধু আমার ছেলেকে নিয়ে। মশারা কোনো কারনে আমার ছেলের পিছনেই লাগে। ছেলে একদিন বেড়াতে গিয়েছিল। অদ্ভুতভাবে লক্ষ্য করলাম, সেদিন ঘরে মশার উপদ্রপ ছিলো না। এমনিতে শান্তি মতো বসাও যায়না। সারারাত জেগে আমি অনলাইনে কাজ করলাম।  এবং মাত্র একটা মশা দেখলাম, সেটাও মেরে ফেলেছিলাম।

একদিন পর আমার ছেলে আসার সাথে সাথেই আবার শুরু হয়ে গেল মশাদের আক্রমন। ওরা জানলো কিভাবে যে আমার ছেলে চলে গিয়েছিল? আর ফিরে আসার খবরই বা কে দিল?

I am in terrible problem with mosquito. And this problem is with my son. Some how mosquitos mostly attack my son only. Once he went out for a day. I surprise to see that day there wasn't any mosquito problem. Whole night I worked online and found only one mosquito (Which I killed later). After one day when he returned, all mosquito came back again and start attacking again. I couldn't understand how they get know about my son's travel and his come back info. 

ওদের বর্ডার পার হতে ভিসা লাগেনা? (Don't they need visa to cross the border?)

ভারতের বর্ডারের অফিসের সামনের উঠানে দাড়িয়ে দাড়িয়ে পা ব্যাথা করছি। কখন ভিসা প্রসেসিং শেষ হবে, কখন নেপাল যাব। এরমাঝে দেখলাম লোকজন সব বিনা বিকারে সোজা হেটে, জীপে করে, সামনে রাস্তা দিয়ে দিব্যি চলে যাচ্ছে। পুলিশ চুপচাপ দেখছে। বিশেষ করে চিনা চেহারার মানুষদের তো ডেকে কিছু জিগ্যেসও করছে না। কি ব্যপার? তাহলে কি চিনা চেহারা হলে ভিসা লাগেনা? এরমধ্যে দেখলাম কিছু চাইনিজ চেহারা লোক ভিসার জন্য দাড়িয়ে গেল। আবার চিন্তা করলাম এরা তাহলে ভিসা কেন চাচ্ছে?

দাড়িয়ে থেকে পা ব্যাথা হয়ে যাওয়ায় পাশে চা এর দোকানে গেলাম। সেখানে ঐ চাইনিজরাও এলো। এরপর শুরু হলো সমস্যা। দোকানির ভাষা ওরা বোঝেনা, ওদের ইংলিশ উচ্চারন দোকানী বোঝে না। পরোপোকারী আমি এগিয়ে গিয়ে একটা মিটমাট করে দিলাম। তখন ওরা আমার সাথে পরিচিত হলো। ওরা আসলে কোরিয়ান। এই প্রথম কোন বাংলাদেশী দেখল। ভালো । নিজের চেহারা নিয়ে একটু ভাবলাম, এরা তো ভাববে সব বাংলাদেশীরই বোধহয় এই চেহারা, যেমন আমি ওদের দেখে ধরে নিয়েছিলাম।

যাই হোক ভীর না থাকা সত্ত্বেও আমাদের মাত্র ৬ঘন্টা লেগেছিল, নেপালের বর্ডার শহরে হোটেলে উঠতে। আর এও জানলাম, নেপাল-ভারত বর্ডার খোলা। তাই নেপালী আর ভারতীয়দের বর্ডার পার হতে কোন ভিসা লাগেনা। আমি ভাবলাম, বাংলাদেশীরা যদি কোন কথা না বলে ওদের মতোন সোজা বর্ডার পার হয়ে যায় তাহলে কি বুঝতে পারবে?

At India-Nepal border, we were standing on Indian border office. The visa process was taking too long that I was feeling pain on my legs. I couldn’t understand when this visa process will complete and we can go to Nepal.

By this time I saw some people were walking or by jeep crossing the border in front of us to Nepal without hesitation or interrupt by the border Indian police. Especially people, who have china face, didn’t get any hassle by the police. What’s going on? If anyone has china face, no need any visa? By this time I saw some Chinese faced people came and stand in the line for visa? Again thought, then why these people need visa?

The visa process was taking long time that I couldn’t stand anymore. So, I went to a tea stall. Those Chinese faced people also went there. Then another problem rose. The tea maker couldn’t understand their English pronunciation and they don’t understand the shop keeper’s language. You know, I am a very helpful person. So, I went there and solve the problem. Then they gave their identification to me. They were from Korea.  And for the first time they saw any Bangladeshi. I was thinking about my face, because they will guess all Bangladeshi has this kind of face, as I was thinking all Korean’s have that kind of face which they have.

Though there were not much people at the border, we took only 6 hours to get in a hotel of Nepal border from India. Then I get to know Nepal-India border is open. That’s why Nepali and Indian people don’t need visa to move from one country to another. I was thinking if any Bangladeshi cross the border without saying anything will they understand it, because we have same face like Indian’s ;)

I should have noticed the kid's problem

একটা ছোট বাচ্চা  কতক্ষন খেলনা আর কার্টুন ছাড়া চুপচাপ ঘরে বসে থাকতে পারে, তাই মাঝে মাঝে জানালা দিয়ে আর দরজা খুলে বাইরের মানুষদের দেখতে চাইছিল। কিন্তু ওকে বেশ কড়া করে বকা দেয়া হচ্ছিল... আসলে আমার উচিত ছিল, ওকে বাইরে নিয়ে একটু ঘুরিয়ে আনা... বা দাড়িয়ে  থাকা। শুধু শুধু ছেলেটাকে নিয়ে বকা খাওয়ালাম...

How long a kid stays in a room without cartoon or toys? That's why the kid wanted to view outside through window and door. But he was scolded roughly for this behavior. Actually I should take him outside to spend some time outside the room. It's my fault that he got scolded...

কারুকার্যময় ভুটানী শহর (Beautiful design at Bhutan's town)

ভারত থেকে ভুটান এর ভিসা ছাড়াই ভুটানী শহর ফ্রুটসলিংয়ে যাওয়া যায়। ভারত-ভুটান বর্ডারের এক শহর। প্যাাকেজ কোম্পানী এই সুযোগটা নিল। আমাদের নিয়ে জলপাইগুড়ি থেকে ভুটানের শহরে গেলাম। শুরুতেই চমক, খুবই সুন্দর কারুকার্যময় গেইট। ঢোকার পরই মনে হলে, অন্য এক দেশে এলাম। প্রায় প্রতিটি বাড়ির কার্নিশ, গেট, দেয়াল নানা কারুকার্য করা, বাহারী রংয়ে। ভুটানবাসী যে কারুকার্যে খুবই দক্ষ সেটা আর বলে দিতে হয় না। 

গাইড আমাদের নিয়ে গেল ৪তলা সুন্দর এক দালানের সামনে, বলল, এটা বাস স্ট্যান্ড। আপনারা ইচ্ছা করলে এর ছবি তুলে নিয়ে যেতে পারেন, আমি টিকেট কিনে আনি।

এই শহরে একটা কুমিরের খুব ভাল সংগ্রহ আছে। আমরা দেরি করায় বন্ধ হয়ে গিয়েছিল। তাই বাইরে থেকেই খাঁচার নানা ধরনের কুমির আর ঘড়িয়াল দেখতে হলো। কুমির গুলো ঘুমাচ্ছিল। আমাদের ক্যামেরার ফ্ল্যাসের আলোয় একটু চোখ খুলে আবার ঘুমিয়ে পড়ল।

মার্কেটে গেলাম, এখানেই প্রথম চোখে পড়ল বাংলাদেশী সামগ্রী। কোক, ফানটার পাশাপাশি ফিয আপ , লাক্স এর পাশে কেয়া সাবান দেখে কি যে ভাল লাগল।

কয়েক দোকানে কার্টুন বক্সে নানা জিনিস (ড্রেস আর জুতা) ডিসকাউন্টে বিক্রি করছে। সবাই যে যার ইচ্ছা মতোন নেড়ে চেড়ে দেখছে, কোন পাহাড়া বা সিকিউরিটি ক্যামেরা নেই।

সবচেয়ে যে জিনিসটা ভালো লেগেছিল, সেটা হলো ওরা খুবই পরিস্কার পরিচ্ছন্ন। সব দোকানের সাথে আছে ডাস্টবিন।

From India you can go to one town of Bhutan, without any visa. That is Phuentsholing Town. This is situated at the border of India. Our tour management took this opportunity. They took us from Jalpaiguri to Phentsholing. We were amazed first by looking at the gate with amazing design work of Phuentsholing Town. After entering the town, we understood we are in the different world. Almost every house, its door and window are made with very good design of craft. No doubt that Bhutan's people are very good in making amazing designs.

Our guide took us to a beautiful 4 storied building. We surprised when he said, "This is the bus stand of this town. You can take pictures; I am going there to cut tickers."

This town has very good collection of crocodile. We were little late to go there so the park was close. But still we stand outside and watch different kind and size of crocodile from outside the park. They were sleeping. When we took picture the open their eyes to see the flash light then again fall in sleep. 

We went to the market and saw there were different Bangladeshi products. Like with coke, fanta they have fizzup, with lux soap they have Keya soap. Really felt great.

In some shop they put some dress and shoes in the cartoon box and giving discounts. There was no security or security camera. People can easily check those things.

Mostly I like this town because it's clean. With every shop you will see dustbin.

যা কিছু সুন্দর (All beautiful things)

শাফিন (আমার ছয় বছরের ছেলে) আবিস্কার করলো, এই পৃথিবীতে যা কিছু সুন্দর, সবই মেয়েদের জন্য... কি আর বলব, দুনিয়াটাই এমন...

Shafeen, my 6 years old son found that all beautiful things in this world are for women only... Well what can I say, world isn't equal to all always...

দার্জিলিং এর চা(Tea from Darjeeling)

যাওয়ার আগেই দেশ থেকে বলে দেয়া হয়েছিল, যেন আসার সময় দার্জলিংয়ের চা নিয়ে আসি।

দার্জিলিংয়ে আমরা যে রেস্টুরেন্টে খেতাম, তার সাথে একটা হাই ফাই চা পাতার দোকান ছিল। দেখেই ভয় পেয়েছিলাম, না জানি এখানে দাম কতো হবে। হলোও তাই, দোকানদার ভাংগা ভাংগা বাংলায় বলল যদি ভাল চা চান তো ১৯০০রুপি কেজি নিতে পারেন। আমাদের করুন মুখ দেখেই হয়তো আরেক ধরনের চা দেখালো, বেশ কারিশমা করে হাত দিয়ে ডলে তারপর মুখের সামনে ধরল। গন্ধ ভালো। এটার দাম নাকি ২০০ রুপি কেজি, তবে আমরা বাংগালী এবং এই কোম্পানীর মালিকও নাকি বাংগালী তাই ১৮০ রুপি কেজি। এটাই নাকি মালিকের নির্দেশ। দোকানদারও নাকি বাংগালী, তবে হিন্দি বলতে বলতে এখন নাকি বাংলা ভুলে গেছে। যাই হোক, এখান থেকে কেনা হয়নি।

পরের দিন হাটতে হাটতে মোড় এ আরেকটা চায়ের দোকান দেখলাম। আমাদের দেশের নীলক্ষেতের দোকানের মতোন, ভাবলাম এ হয়তো কম চাবে। এর চা যেটা পছন্দ করলাম সেটা ১৬০টাকা কেজি।

পরে আমাদের গাইড বলল, সে আমাদের চা বাগানে নিয়ে যাবে, সেখান থেকে নাকি আসল ভাল চা পাব। তাই সই। নিয়ে গেল আমাদের, চা বাগানে নয়, বাগানের পাশে রাস্তার ধারে টিনের ছাউনি দেয়া একজায়গায়, সেখানে চা বিক্রি হচ্ছে ২০০টাকা কেজি। তারা স্যাম্পল চা-ও খাওয়ালো, ভালোই।

বাসায় আনার পর ভাল ধরা খেলাম, চা হলো খুবই পাতলা। বাসার কেউ কেউ বিদ্রোহ করলো, এই চা খাবে না। এখন যেটা করি, দেশি চায়ের সাথে মিশিয়ে দেই, ভাল গন্ধ পাওয়া যায়। আর অনেক্ষন জ্বাল দিলে খেতে খারাপ লাগেনা। আমি দেখেছি এই চা খেলে মাথা ধরা কমে চলে যায়, বেশ ফ্রেশ লাগে।

Before we went to Darjeeling, all told us, they want to taste Darjeeling tea, so we must not forget to bring some.

In Darjeeling there was tea shop (Very gorgeous) just beside our restaurant. I afraid, here price must be high. Yes, as I thought. The shop keeper told us in poor Bangla, if we want best quality tea then it will cost 1900 rupee per kg. Then he must saw something on our face so he brought another kind of tea. He masses them on his hand in especial style then gives us to check. Really smelt good. He said this will cost 200 rupee per kg. But as we are Bengali he will take 180 rupee per kg, because the shop owner (And the keeper also) is also Bengali but after living all these years in Darjeeling, he forget Bangla language. Anyway we didn't buy anything from here.

Next we found another tea shop in walking distance. It looks like a shop from Nilkhet. We guessed here we might found something cheap. The tea we choose here was 160 rupee per kg.

Later our guide told us, he will take us to a tea garden, we can buy tea from that garden, which is genuine. We agreed. He took us a tin shaded tea shop beside the road (Could be near garden). They give us sample, which tasted good. So, we bought here tea 200 rupee per kg.

But finally when we returned home, we found we were wrong about those tea leaves. The tea made from it isn't dense enough. Nobody liked it, some said, they won't taste it more. But I found it’s not that bad. I mixed it with regular tea leaf and keep it warming for several minutes... then it tasted really good and the whole house covered with beautiful tea leaf smell. I liked that very much. Even I found it helps to reduce my headache and made me feel refresh.

অন্যকে দিয়ে যখন কাজ করাবেন (When you make others to work)

আপনি যখন কাউকে দিয়ে কোনো কাজ করাবেন, তখন এটা ভাবার কোনো কারন নেই, আপনার নির্দেশ অনুসরন করে, ঠিক আপনার মতো করেই কাজ করবে। আসলে প্রতিটি মানুষই আলাদা।  তাই তার কাজ এবং ফলাফলও আলাদা। সে আপনার চেয়ে ভাল করে (সম্ভাবনা কম) অথবা খারাপ করে করবে, এটা মেনে নিয়েই আরেকজনকে দিয়ে কাজ করাতে হবে। অযথা চেচামেচি না করে, বুঝিয়ে যতটা ঠিক করে নিতে পারেন, ততই আপনার লাভ।

When someone else will work for you, you can’t expect they will follow your instruction and will do exactly same as you would do. Every person is different, and so are their work and its result. So, either they will do job better than you (May be not much people) or less good than yours. Except it, with scream, try to make things better by explaining… that’s all you can do…

দোলনা (Swing)

নেপালের জাতীয় খেলা কি? আমি জানিনাহ। তবে, নেপাল ঘুরে মনে দোলনায় দোল খাওয়া। ছেলে, বুড়ো সকলেই দোল খায়। দোল খাওয়ার জন্য লাইন ধরে দাড়িয়ে থাকে।

শহরে, গ্রামে, জংগলে সব জায়গায় আছে এই দোলনা। বাড়ির উঠানে, মাঠে, ছাদে, পাহাড়ের গায়ে, পাহাড়ের চূড়ায়... কোথায় নেই। আমার ভয় হয় এটা দেখে যে, একবার ছিড়ে পড়লে পাহাড়ের খাদ বেয়ে সোজা নিচে চলে যেতে হবে। সকাল, বিকাল, সন্ধ্যা সব সময়ই আমি এদের দোল খেতে দেখেছি। আমাদের হোটেলের ছাদেও দেখি দোলনা আছে। নাগরকোট (মনে হয় ৭৫০০ফুট উচুতে) খুব সুন্দর জায়গায়, এই পাহাড়ের চূড়ায়ও আছে দোলনা।

আমাদের দেশে আমি দেখেছি, সাধারনত: গাছের সাথে দড়ি দিয়ে সাথে পিড়ি বা ছালা দিয়ে দোলনা বানায়। এদেরটা সম্পূর্ন অন্য রকম। ৪টা বাঁশ ২টা ২টা করে পাশাপাশি মাটিতে পুতে। তারপর মাঝখানে আড়াআড়ি করে বাঁশ বা লাঠি বা কাঠ বেধে তাতে দড়ি ঝুলায়, যেভাবে আমরা গাছের সাথে দড়ি বাঁধি। তারপর দোল খায়।

Swing from Nepal

Do you know, what is the national game of Nepal? I don't know. But after visiting their country I think it's swinging. All aged people from Nepal likes swinging from kid to grand pa. They even stand in queue to get on the swing.

You can see swing, all over the country from plain land to hill, village to town, house to hotel. I really get fear when I saw this at the top of the hill. If any how the rope gets tear people will from the hill directly to the ground. They keep swinging all over the day... from morning to evening. I have seen a swing even in our hotel, at the roof. Nagarkot has a beautiful tourist place, this is located may be at 7500 ft high than sea level. I have seen a swing over this hill too.

In our country, we generally make swing by swinging rope from the tree then add small wooden bench or tire with it. But here they use different technology. I put 4 bamboos and twist their head together and hang rope from there...

আমি মানুষ, আমাকে ভয় করো (I am human so fear me)

আমি অতিথি পরায়্নাতাকে খুব পছন্দ করি। তাই কেউ বাসায় আসলে তাকে সাধ্যমতো খাতির যত্ন করি (এবং অন্যের কাছ থেকেও তেমনটি আশা করি)। তারমানে এই না যে পৃথিবীর সব প্রাণী নিজেকে আমার ঘরের মেহমান মনে করবে। কিন্তু বাস্তব হলো ভিন্ন।

আমার অবর্তমানে পায়রা ঘরের জানালা দিয়ে ঢুকে বিছানায় বাসা বানিয়ে ডিম পেরেছিল। ইদুর নিয়মিত বাসায় আসে। আমাকে একটুও ভয় পায় না। যেন ঘরের লোক। রান্নাঘরের জানালা দিয়ে ঢুকে আমাকে পাশ কাটিয়ে যাওয়ার সময় আবার "কিচ" শব্দ করে হেলো বলে যায়। টিকটিকি সোজা রাস্তা দিয়ে হেটে যায়, আমি সামনে পরলেও সরে যায় না। আমি "হ্যাট হ্যাট" জাতীয় শব্দ করেও সরাতে পারিনা, তাই নিজেই রাস্তা ছেড়ে দিয়ে পাশ কাটিয়ে যাই।

আরে... এরা পেয়েছে কি? আমি মানুষ, আমাকে ভয় করো...

I like good hospitality, so whenever any person come to my house, I take care of them happily and look after them as well as possible (Same I expect from others). But that doesn’t mean ever single creature will think they are my guest. Let me explain…

In my absence pigeon got into my room and made nest. Even they lay egg over it. Everyday mouse enters my house through kitchen window. When it passed me, it makes sound like “Kich” like it saying hi to me. Lizard walks on the floor like my roommate. I try to make run by making sound like “Hat hat”, but didn’t work, so I had to give it space to walk and I put my leg at the side.
This is not good. Hey creatures, I am human… so fear me…

পোখরা লেক (Pokhara lake)

নেপালের যে জায়গাটা আমার সবচেয়ে ভালো লেগেছে সেটা হলো পোখরা লেক। আপনারা যদি নেপাল যাবার পরিকল্পনা কোনদিন করেন, তো আমি সাজেস্ট করবো পোখরা লেকের পাশে কোন হোটেল বা রিসোর্ট এ থাকার জন্য।

চমৎকার টলটলে পানির লেক, চার পাশে পাহাড়। মাঝখানে ছোট্ট একটা দ্বীপ। সেখানে আছে সুন্দর এক মন্দির। জায়গাটা পার্কের মতো সাজানো। সেই দ্বীপে আছে অসংখ্য পায়ড়া।

আপনি ২০০ নেপালী রুপি দিয়ে নৌকায় করে দ্বীপে আসতে পারেন। দ্বীপ ঘোরা হলে নৌকা আপনাকে নিয়ে দ্বীপের চারপাশে চক্কর কেটে আবার পৌছে দিবে।

এখানে আপনি পাডেল নৌকা বা দাড় টানা নৌকা ভাড়া করে নিজেই চালাতে পারেন।

লেকের পাশেই আছে সুন্দর সুন্দর অসংখ্য হোটেল। আছে হ্যান্ডি ক্র‌্যাফট এর দোকান। দাম একটু বেশি। আর এক দোকান থেকে কিছু না কিনে কয়েক দোকানে ঘুরে দামদর করে কিনবেন। যেমন আমরা এক ধরনের শাল কিনলাম ১০০ নেপালী রুপি দিয়ে, অন্য এক দোকানে সেই শাল ৯০০ রুপি চাইল! নেপালি টুপি ৮০ রুপির কমে দিবে না। অথচ অন্য জায়গা থেকে আমরা ২০ রুপিতে কিনলাম।

আমরা গিয়েছিলাম পুজোর ছুটির সময়। তাই বেশির ভাগ দোকানিকে পেলাম মুসলিম, যারা পুজোতে দোকান খোলা রেখেছে।

In our Nepal tour the place I liked most is Pokhara Lake. If you are planning to visit Nepal, I will suggest you to take hotel beside this lake to stay. Here you will see beautiful water of the late, surround by the hills. At the middle of the lake you will see a tiny island. There is a temple with lots of pigeon on this island. The island is very beautiful like a park. You can hire a boat with 200 Nepali rupees; it will take to the island then will give you a ride on the lake and return. Here you can hire paddle or other boat too to ride it by yourself. 

Just beside the lake you will see beautiful hotels and resorts with many food courts. You will also find lots of handcraft shop. My suggestion is first look most of the shop and check the price. Here we bought a shoal with 100 rupee, but the next shop asked 900 rupee for the same cloth. They said they will not sale a Nepali cap below 80 rupee, but later we bought it from other place by 20 rupee.

We went there at Puja's time (Hindu celebration with their gods) time, so we found most of shop keepers are Muslim who kept open their shop in these holidays...

কাজের মেশিন (Machine to work)

আমাদের দেশে ঈদুল ফিতর এর একটা বিশেষ গান আছে, "ও মোর রমজানের ঐ রোজার শেষে এলো খুশির ঈদ" চাঁদ রাতে এই গান জোরে জোরে না বাজালে বা না গাইলে আমাদের ঈদ হয়না। তাই এবার আমার ছয় বছরের ছেলেকে বহু কষ্টে এই গানটা রোজার মধ্যে শিখালাম। অনেক চেষ্টার পর ও ২ লাইন শিখতে পারলো। আমি বোঝালাম, এই গান দিয়ে আমরা সবাইকে ঈদের শুভেচ্ছা জানাবো। মাতৃভক্ত ছেলে ঈদের দিন অক্ষরে অক্ষরে মায়ের কথা শুনেছিল। 

ঈদের দিন যার সাথেই দেখা হচ্ছিল তাকেই ও দাড়িয়ে এই দুই লাইন গান শুনিয়েছে। এমনকি বাসায় যখন কাজের বুয়া আসলো ওকেও দাড়িয়ে গান শোনাতে লাগল, কারন আমি বলেছিলাম, সবাইকে শোনাতে। বুয়া এতো কিছু বোঝেনি, শাফিন গান শোনাচ্ছিল আর ও ওর মতো কাজে চলে গিয়েছিল।

আসলে, আমরা আমাদের চারপাশে যখন তাকাই তখন কিছু কিছু জিনিস পুরোপুরি উপেক্ষা করি। যেমন বাড়িতে কাজের মানুষ, রাস্তায় রিক্সাওয়ালা, অফিসে পিয়ন ইত্যাদি। এরা যেন কাজের মেশিন, মানুষ যখন বলি এদের আর গোনায় ধরিনা...

In our country we celebrate our Eid with an especial song, "O mor romjaner oi rojar sheshe elo khushir Eid (After the month of fast, happy day Eid has arrived)" before the Eid day we had to play or sing this song loudly, otherwise we don't feel its Eid day. So, I had taught my son this song. After trying hard he could learn two lines of it. I make his understand that we will give Eid greeting with song to everyone. But son followed my suggestion literally.

In the Eid day, my son went to every single person and sang this song. Even when the maid came to work, he went and started singing the son. Thought the maid didn't notice and continue her work.

This situation made me realize that actually when we think about human we forget some people to count. Like at home maid, on the road rickshaw puller, in office clerk etc. We take them as a working machine. So, when we say, all or us, we never count these people...

পাথরের নদী, পাথরের ঝর্ণা (River of stone, stone’s stream )

আগে থেকে ধারণা করে রেখেছিলাম, নেপালে গেলে ভারত-বাংলাদেশের অনেক বড় বড় নদীর উৎস ছোট ছোট প্রবল স্রোতের নদী দেখতে পাব। কিন্তু, যখন প্রথম নেপাল বর্ডার থেকে চলা শুরু করলাম বাসে, তখন প্রথমে দেখলাম, শুধু সমতলভূমি, মনে হলো,নেপালে বোধহয় পাহাড়িয়া এলাকা নেই! তারপর একপর্যায়ে পেলাম নদীর দেখা। কিন্তু একি অবস্থা? এক ফোটা পানি নেই, আর গভীরতা আমাদের দেশের মাঠের চেয়েও কম। তাহলে আমরা যে নদীতে এত পানি দেখি সেটা কোথ্থেকে আসে? এসব নদী জুড়ে শুধু পাথর আর পাথর। ছোট বড় নানা রংয়ের নানা আকারের নুড়ি পাথর বিছানো পুরো নদি জুড়ে। মাঝে মাঝে চোখ পড়ল পাথরের ঝড়না। সত্যিই পাথরের ঝর্ণা। পাহাড় থেকে নালার আকারে নুড়ি পাথর গড়িয়ে পাথরের নদীতে গিয়ে পড়েছে। রং প্রধানত: সাদা। তবে নীল আর হালকা লাল রংও চোখে পড়ল। বিশাল এই পাথরের নদী। কয়েক ঘন্টা ধরে আমাদের রাস্তা এই নদীর পাশ দিয়ে গিয়েছিল, তারপর জংগলে ঢুকে গিয়েছে।

রাস্তায় বড় বড় অনেক ব্রীজ পার হয়েছি যার নিচে শুধু পাথর আর বালি। কোন কোন জায়গায় এক পাশ দিয়ে নালার মতোন পানি গরিয়ে যাচ্ছে।

পাথর এতো পাওয়া যায় বলেই হয়তো রাস্তার পাশে জায়গায় জায়গায় দেখলাম, তারের চৌকোনা বক্স তৈরি করে তাতে পাথর ভরে পাথরের বাঁধ দেয়া হয়েছে। রাস্তার পাশের ড্রেন গুলো সিমেন্ট আর পাথর দিয়ে বানানো। নেপালে অনেক বাসা দেখেছি পাথরের। নেপাল থেকে শিলিগুড়িতে ফেরার পর শুনেছি, নেপাল থেকে ট্রাক ভরে ভরে পাথর আসে ভারতে, আর ভারত থেকে নেপালে যায় বহুকিছু।

I was mentally prepared to see the Source Rivers (Small streams) of many big river's of Bangladesh.

But the reality was very surprising. When I started my journey by bus from India in Nepal first it was only plain I could see, seems there is no hilly area in Nepal! Then a big river started. But there were not a drop of water in that river, but only stones... in different size, shape and color. Through this river in several I could see small falls of stones! Literally these were falls of stones not water. From the hill stones are falling down (Not moving but the path was full of stones) to the stone's river. I could see this stone rive for long time, and then the river goes into the jungle...

All stones mainly were in white color, some were blue and red. Because of lots of stones we saw many roads where road side was blocked by stone cubes. Road side drains were made by stone and cement. I have seen many houses in Nepal made by stones.

Through my journey in Nepal I have seen most of river are dry, depth are less than any field. Some river contains lots of stone with a very tiny water flow.

Later when we return to Shiligury I heard that many trucks with stones come in India from Nepal and return with many other things...
